The IM niche vs others - profitability

Does anyone find it ironic that one of the most profitable niches is Internet Marketing itself? Selling products on how to internet market. I also read somewhere that some of the most profitable blogs are blogs about how to make money blogging.

It reminds me of the you need experience to get the job, but you need the job to get experience paradox. Those who are experienced with internet marketing can profit off marketing products about internet marketing whereas those who aren't don't, but probably would like to.

To whom this applies to - In your personal experience do you find that the niches you experimented with in order to learn how to IM are less or more profitable than the product you created after the fact to teach others how to become an IMer?

  • I think that the overall most profitable niche is MMORPG's. Simply because the games are played by millions upon millions of people (ie. Blizzard MMORPG's) and the players themselves are already willing to pay decent money every month to play their games.

One of my main business activities is selling keywords so I get to see a whole heap of different keywords everyday in many different niches. While some niches will naturally earn you more than others I tend not to sell my clents "Make Money" type keywords. The reason is because there aint too many keywords left worth chasing unless you have VERY deep pockets and the fact that this market is super over saturated. This is not to say you cant make money in this niche, you just have to be creative.

Here is my advice. Look for keywords that are non-commercial.

Think medical conditions, gaming advice, history and funny stuff. The traffic does not convert as well but there is generally 20x more of it so that kinda makes up the shortfall.

We monetize most of these sites with adsense which generally pulls in around $0.30 a click. Not a lot I know but there is strength in numbers.

A small sprinkle of CPA banners usually earns a nice daily dividend as well.

At the end of the day it's just a matter of thinking outside the box when you are doing your KW research.

    Hope that helps

Yep, the IM niche is huge. Everyone can get in this niche, too.

The best bet for those who haven't made a ton of money yet in this niche is to obviously not consider making some bogus product that isn't true.

The best bet is to sell services to those in the IM niche, at first, if you want to be in this niche. Or sell tools, resources, etc.

I think a lot of people should try other niches out there, first, though, or whatever floats your boat.

Just make sure it's a profitable niche with lots of activity.

I don't agree with the "find a small niche" you can dominate mantra. Well, I do, but only when it's about a sub-niche within a niche that's already time-proven to be profitable.

Reminds me of the guy that made a forum post along the lines of "give me $1000 and I will teach you how to make $1000 from a forum post over and over again"

Don't go into the IM niche (especially making money online) if you are still learning it. I often question the integrity of people only making money through selling 'make money' products.

There are plenty of profitable non-IM niches. Take any big-ticket physical product and you have a decent niche ... albeit a bit competitive, but not as competitive as the IM niche.

Software is a great product to promote - any high-converting software for businesses and consumers is good. I focus on this a fair amount and it does well. I like trying new software so it's a good fit.

If you feel bad then why are you on the Warrior Forum?

Life is a business. I don't care if I ask you to please change the channel to Two and a Half Men because it's a better show than King of The Hill.

If I get you to change the channel, I'm SELLING you on the idea that if Two and a Half Men is a better show and all you have to do is change it.

Regardless of what you're doing, you're always being sold.

So how would I sleep at night? Like a big fat baby, who just took a hot bath with Johnson and Johnson bath bubbles.

Because as long as I know that I'm putting out a solid course that's actually helping people out, and not some scammy software that claims instant riches..I'm sure I'll be okay.

        How are you sleeping?

Good answer, I am glad you ended with "a solid course that's actually helping people out", otherwise I would of slammed ya!

But seriously, I am referring to the people who only make money by selling make money products.

I would love to see those people take their own advice and actually MAKE money from their own lessons, rather than from people trying to make money themselves.

Yerr, business is business. I just think it can be done ethically and with good intention of helping the receiving person, not stepping on top of peoples heads to get up in the world.

          Cheers

I dont think that the IM niche is one of the most profitable- it's just one of the main ones that we see.

Why? Because it's something that we're interested in, and its evergreen and will keep growing every day.

But we're a pretty small part of the population. Just in the United States, there are tens of MILLIONS of people who want to lose weight, get rid of acne, etc.

The IM niche is hungry, but I think there are bigger, hungrier niches out there.

When I first started with affiliate marketing in particular, I stayed away from IM because everyone told me to. They all said go into something else first. I started in the "learn Spanish" niche since I was a Spanish major in college. I then did dating, which I couldn't stand b/c the people complained an too much, and I aint Dr. Phil. :-) I got into gardening for a bit when the Aerogarden came out.

After all that, I settled into IM. At first, I didn't like it because I thought the only way to make money in the IM niche was to lie to people, which isn't me. Then, I realized I could leverage all the traffic from those crappy products to promote something of value. This is when I began to get into IM. I've also met a lot of good people who have helped me along the way. If it weren't for them, I would have probably given up.

Even though I made money in all the niches I tried, one of the things that drew me to IM was the fact is such a busy niche. There are always product coming out. When you're in IM, you're usually also one of the first people to learn new techniques and stuff like that. It's like you have the inside scoop. I imagine it to be somewhat similar to being a stock broker working the floor of the NYSE in the real world. The only thing is that you can't get caught up in all the scammy crap. You have to choose to be a Suze Orman rather than a Bernie Madoff.

One aspect that cannot be ignored is that the IM niche is not just a "niche" per se; it is the generic blueprint from which all other niches are modelled.

Is true but don't forget about evergreen nieches.
Nieches in lose fat and get rid of stuff will never die.
So is somehow ironic but also makes sense.
