Why do so many people respond to a post with the same answer?

by SalmaR

I've noticed this with new and old warriors alike. 50 people responding to a post with the same answer and sometimes I wonder if there could be a better way to show your agreement without repeating the same thing over and over.

Any thoughts?

Good question. If there are a lot of replies I usually just read the first few, then scan the rest. So I guess a lot of people don't actually read the replies before posting their own.

That is a good thing to ask. I guess if a lot of people write something in response, it might be a good idea to just glance over the first 5 or so and then buzz over the ones remaining. It seems that quite a few folks are not paying close attention to the answers of the folks before them and are simply going ahead to put together their own version.

Yes that is true and another important reason, Warrior forum dont send email notification by defaults because of new post, so mainly people just keep on reading on the author post

But if you wish, you can set the 'getting email notifications about new posts' option in your user control panel, see: edit options.

It's a herd thing, especially if the answer makes sense. Yeah, that's the ticket...

Some want to show their sig.

Some want to up their post count. Watch any popular thread and look for the point where a lot of brand new people start dropping one-liner 'me, too' posts.

Many barely read the subject line, much less the whole thread.

Because, [gasp] this is first and foremost a discussion forum. IF you've ever had a discussion with more than one person your liable to have the same opinion as someone else.

Add in the nuances of language, personality, sense of humor, etc, and you get a dynamic group of people trying to add to the discussions and come back to see how others reacted to it.

And then of course there is sig exposure (which I have turned mine off for this post, since I am point it out). Want to know how many orders I've gotten because of my posts in the forum? Your going to have to buy me WSO for me to tell you!

I'm here all week, year, and maybe decade!

A lot of warriors want there signatures seen and that's alright. We all are internet marketers and want to make money.

It's the silly 1 liner responses like "great post, thanks for the information." And then HUGE SIGNATURE sticks out at the bottom lol.

Those one's right there aren't offering any value to the forum and should just be banned.

However with warriors answering the same questions with the same answers, it's because they want to really help that person out!

And a lot of the times, at least with me, I'll scroll through a few of the threads answers, and then leave my answer not really checking out what everyone else has said. Especially if it's a long thread!

I'm sure we all have our reasons, but I would hope it's to add value and to really answer someones question!

    cheers!

Now that's an exaggeration. Even so, bear in mind that not everyone reads everyone else's answers. And sometimes people will agree, but then they will add a different perspective. I read a lot of threads and I rarely see what you've just described. I'll see SOME agreement in some threads, but not to the degree that you're talking about.

And yes, people do want to get their sig files seen too. Hey, it's a marketing forum.

I DID actually read the whole thread b4 posting so I don't think I am being redundant here.

Here is another scenario: I was writing a post in another thread about a half hour ago & by the time I submitted my post, a few others had posted similar things to what I ended up writing - but they weren't there when I started writing so I had no idea they would be me to the punch.

If many people say the same thing, it makes the answer stronger and justified. I think there is a good side for it and that's why it's a forum. Just my thoughts...

    Great minds think alike

Sometimes there's only one [established] answer to a frequently asked question and 2 or 3 people write about it at the same time and they don't realize that until they click the submit button. There you have your 3 similar answers to the same question.

And of course, some people answer before reading ALL the other replies.

And sometimes we are all writing a post at once...

I've started answering an unanswered post several times and found after I hit the Post Reply button four people were ahead of me.

Sometimes the answers were the same.

When I see a thread with many of the same answers, I don't post the same thing as I feel I am not contributing anything new to the topic.

If I basically am agreeing with what others have posted, but I have ADDITIONAL information to add, then I will contribute to the conversation

Hope nobody already said this same thing, lol
