tahoecale thanks for this info. One thing confuses me is that everyone online creating and selling products are referred to as internet marketers. I think, like production - marketing too is a different department. An apt word for those creating and selling products online I think should be i-entrepreneurs. and who do just marketing for others can be termed as i-marketers.

I have discovered that internet marketing is really misunderstood and alot of times handled wrong. You still have to be yourself and build good relationships with people or you never hear from them again. You still have to learn good marketing skills to use online, just like offline. Your audience online is just so much bigger.

For me Internet Marketing is the process of understanding a market, and putting together the right message that reaches the market. How you reach the market is through the Internet, which host a number of services like WWW, email, social media search engine that are all used in reaching your market.

Basically Internet marketing uses for the advertising and marketing of our websites, products.
Internet marketing and online advertising efforts are typically used in conjunction with traditional types of advertising like radio, television, newspapers and magazines.

Internet marketing divided into three types :- Web marketing, email marketing and Social media marketing.

1.In Web marketing includes e-commerce Websites, affiliate marketing Websites, promotional Websites, online ad on search engines, and organic SEO.

2.Email marketing involves both advertising and promotional marketing via e-mail.

3.Social media involves both advertising and marketing from social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Digg, Reddit and many more.

Your sales methods through internet is known as internet marketing

My definition of IM is:
1. Ability to work from home
2. Be my own boss
3. Rake in as much money as I can
4. Don't crave for no promotions

For me internet marketing is like trying to persuade people in the internet.So they buy a product and you get money or commissions.Internet marketing haves different categories like email marketing,article marketing,affiliate marketing and some more but i cant renember right now.For me email marketing its the future where alot of people are going to work in the future.This is getting very popular.

I think internet marketing is quite broad, and it covers everything from e-commerce, to seo, to social media.
I would even consider getting offline consultants via the web Internet marketing. It is getting more important in recent years and a lot of business have extended into the online world.

I think Internet Marketing is simply using the digital environment we call the Internet as a vehicle for the delivery of information and entertainment that can be converted into money through advertising. The paper publication industry has successfully engaged in this type of commerce for decades, and the television industry took information (and entertainment) surrounded by advertising to a new level.

Of course, participation as a publisher in the paper and television industry requires a whacking amount of money.

Internet marketing really isn't anything new at its core, but the vehicle (affordable computers of all kinds) changed the dynamics of the game, so to speak, by making it possible for a single individual with a very limited budget to engage a wide audience that has the ability (hopefully) to purchase good and services.

For this freelance writer Internet Marketing is the best thing since sliced bread.

Being able to do business globally without the challenges which offline businesses would otherwise meet. Think about it, i can be based in England and have customers from USA, Australia, Canada, etc, without even leaving my home. Thats the beauty of Internet Marketing

My definition of Internet Marketing is using a computer and or website to promote something and ultimately to make money.

You can bring in the customers online or offline but your business would somehow revolve around using a website to communicate, sell or entertain your visitors.

I think most people (at least here at WarriorForum ) equate internet marketing to affiliate marketing. However, I think that terminology is a very general thing.....as the name says, I guess internet marketing just means marketing (anything, be it commercial or not) through the power of the Internet!!

Sheila : Thanks for that valuable insight. It's universal practice that we tend to give so many meanings to one particular thing and so this is with internet marketing. The only thing which confused me was the term imarketers instead of being ientrepreneurs or ibusinessman.

David - Thanks for the revamped thought that internet marketing is 'self explanatory'. Well, there are lot of things that are self explanatory but adding your own meaning to things that are self explanatory but very important to you (case in point is IM) will provide you a clear sense of understanding and direction about it. Like the way you defined it as 'internet means being online and not offline and marketing means to not keep your mouth shut. And, this your own definition will drive you always to have success by being constantly and regularly online with your products and publicizing them at every opportunity.
