The Paradox of the IM Niche
Like, really?
I have a theory that this is a plateau many newcomers have when getting into IM. They spend so much time learning about IM that they figure why not just get right into teaching IM right away since they have become an "expert" on the topic.
I am sure you can make some money by doing this but come on how can you be a true expert on the subject if you have not found success in another niche market? Actions speak louder than words.
Until you have succeeded in a different niche you will not do well up against the heavy competitors who have already found big success in niche markets such as dating, gaming, music, health, etc.
Let me use an example to give you a better idea of what I am talking about. Let's say there are two affiliates promoting the very popular CB product Truth About Abs.
Both affiliates do their research on the product. They build an affiliate site with Wordpress targeting a good keyword relevant to the program. They buy it, read through it a few times so they learn all about how to get six pack abs and can give an honest review as they are now "experts" on the topic.
But one affiliate goes even further and actually takes action with the program to get six pack abs. This guy is so devoted and passionate about this niche market he does the hard work of getting lean himself. To prove it he takes a before picture of himself and then goes through the program for the next 2-3 months and takes a legit after picture of himself.
Now that he knows what it is like to go through the program himself his content will shine because he will have that "been there, done that" voice thrown into it. Now he can actually call himself an expert (no quotes needed) and he has social proof to not only let people know he knows what he is talking about but he inspires the readers of his site to take action.
Obviously this affiliate will have way more potential to make way more sales given he gets targeted traffic to his site. He will be well on his way to succeed in this niche market.
Then once he has succeeded in this market he has social proof for the IM niche if he ever feels like getting into it. This is the kind of thing that many successful IMers have done time and time again.
Internet marketing is all about building trust. People want to buy from someone who they can trust, someone who is an expert. Not somebody who is an "expert". Why sell guides on how to make money when you have not made money yourself?
That is why I think it is best to start off in any niche other than the IM niche. Then after achieving success you will know what you are talking about because you went through the trial and error yourself.
It has worked for me and many others.
