Google Profits Almost $1 bil Per Month

I was just reading a story about Google earnings which blew through estimates. In the last quarter they earned $2.73 billion. Which works out to almost a billion a month for their advertising revenues. I think everything else they provide is free, isn't it.

I got to say that Google is am amazing company. While most of us are fighting them for a place in the SERP, they seem to have managed to figure out how to make a buck with this model. Hard to imagine that this was started by a couple of kids in school.

The real question is why are we fighting for a place on their index when we can make our own?

    Stay tuned...

So, in other words, Internet Marketing (marketing on the Internet), really does work and goes beyond the Warrior Forum and the make money online niche?

Yea.. That's the obvious truth that I've noticed many members of this forum are oblivious to. That's why so many beginners jump into the IM niche.

If the newbies took a minute to make a quick search to find out what topic the top 1000 most successful sites are on, they'd realized how ridiculous it is to spend time trying to promote MMO products.

Google does have a few other items that they make money off of, such as an updated Gmail account where you pay either a low monthly fee or annual. Also, I think they have some storage options for cost. The rest is all marketing expenses.

Now they just have to have google adwords not realize that blogging and blog are two completely different words for their keyword relevance. I can dream right?

  • Google has figured out an amazing model, in a way like the walled-garden approach of AOL in the past and that Apple continues to persevere with.

They also have a search appliance (hardware and software combo for business), Google Checkout, Chromebooks for Business, Google Apps for business, and an email security system for business they charge for.

TimPears - Brad here. Fantastic update and very encouraging for those willing to invest in the long haul required to build skill and ability on the net.

I have read a bunch of material on Commission Junction about the current market and anticipated growth over the next few years. These are all products other than how to make money.

I have a theory that seems to be panning out. The brick and mortar businesses and shopping centers are giving away to internet sales. FedEx and UPS are making a killing even during a down economy.

We know a driver at FedEx who goes out at 7AM and sometimes does not get back until 8PM or later. Imagine how much activity that must cause in the market.

I also listen to Jay and Sterling from Internet Business on their pod casts. They spoke of actually using Amazon for virtually all their individual needs like shoes, clothing, books, hair gel etc.

I think the market is turning - anyone willing to do the work could be on the ground floor of a new internet market economy.

    What do you think.

Best of luck - thanks for the post and information. Cheers !

Yes Google's earnings are increasing but in my view they are doing this at the expense of the user experience.

Maybe I am biased because I have dropped some rankings in Google in the last 12-18 months but I generally feel that their results are getting worse rather than better. Sure, they are constantly being bombarded with new low quality content that they have to try and evaluate, but I feel that their earlier ranking algorithm was doing a better job than the current ones.

To this you have to add things like the fact that they are constantly trying to make the ads blend in more and more with the organic results etc.

Google is great and I owe a lot to them, but I think they should focus a little less on earnings growth and more on improving the visitor experience for the next couple of quarters...but I suppose that's not what their shareholders want!

A billion a month that's all we ask. Just one lousy billion a month. That's much more that 95 % of the banks, retail stores and the Kennedy's.
