Best way to market a top domain name?

Finally got to the stage that we're downsizing the domains we've been working with. Is there someone with experience of achieving good prices with their old domains that can suggest how we go about this?

Seems like there's stacks of places to put them up for sale, but we believe this is a top internet marketing name. We spent quite a bit of time on this before we got sidetracked! We'd like to put the package up on the best site for the IM niche. It's a membership site... at the moment just with a free signup and we'd be selling the name, the site, including all the graphics, one hundred plus products, mostly with resell rights including PLR and the last time we looked at the mailing list (haven't used it for probably twelve months) there were 356 people on it.

We're using the Launch Formula Marketing Script for it, so the new owner would either have his own membership script or be prepared to go grab a copy of this one. We're using ours for something else too and can't include LFM in the package.

At this stage... help please. If you were selling a really good domain name package, how would you go about that?

    Hello CR,

have you heard about Flippa? (Just google it!)

It's an auction based domain/project selling site with really good results and buyer quantity. Take a look at the cateogry "Just Sold" to get a feeling what kind of domains and projects have been sold and for which price.

    Best Regards

    Hi CR...

You are up against a classic sales question. I'm also trying to sell a valuable name. Here's the problem... All those name selling sites are for people who are LOOKING for a name to buy (obviously). The thing is, your best potential customers are NOT *looking for a name* (already).

What you mut do is generate your own list of potential customers -- and ACTIVELY solicit them (you reaching them, not the other way around).

    Make sense?

    Cheers.

Does it have any revenue? You're selling more than just a domain. You're selling a complete site, a list, a membership, products, etc. Flippa would probably be your best bet with a site like that.

    Garage sale analogy...

Say I'm selling a very valuable antique vase. I could sell it at a garage sale, and it would "bring" a certain amount of $$.

But, what if you gather a list of potential customers (based on some criteria) + actively solicted the list about the vase. You're likely to get much more $$, because it is you going to them (you picked them), not the other way around. Just make sure the criteria that qualifies your list is well thought out.

List on Flippa. Research potential buyers on Google, by conducting searches on your main keywords. Point potential buyers to your Flippa listing.

Thanks everyone. That's a lot of recommendations for Flippa. I'll go see what it's all about.
      What's an LLL.com?
Doesn't have revenue. We got as far as setting up and running the free membership side of things only.
Like the idea of generating a list of potential buyers. I'll do some searching for the same keywords we're using. See what happens.
      Thanks again.
