      Hi

Depends what you need to do?

      1. You can use scripts like amember.
      2. You can use wordpress with paypal protection tags.

      3. You can protect a folder from your Cpanel (or similair) and make a members only
      mailinglist.

Amember or Fantasos can protect your current pages and turn it into a membership site.

You could convert over to WordPress or Joomla and make it into a membership site with the addition of a few choice plugins. Also with Joomla you can show teasers of your articles to the general public - they would have to login or join to see the rest.

By the way I get a 404 page not found error when I click on your article links in the side bar.

A word about error pages - you know you can easily customize those in your cpanel so that it transfers the visitor right back to the original website instead of showing that hostgator error page.

Thank you guys for your info. Jon this great advice but it all sounds very technical and I'm no techie LOL. Is it hard to install all this or can I do it easily?

I would also appreciate any suggestions on what kind of membership site I could create with my existing site: The Path to healthy Living - Healthy Lifestyle - Natural Healing

In other words, what would you do with it?

    Hi

another option is RAPS rapid action profits and an membership add-on (like a plug in)

memberspeed has a lot of features and is very robust, but expensive

    hope this helps

Gaetane I would take your site and either convert it over to WordPress or Joomla to manage your content.
Right now each link I click pops up a new page - extremely frustrating - if a reader were to go through your entire site they would have a dozen windows open. grrrr very frustrating.

Seriously I would put all your content in either of those systems I just mentioned. Then turn it into an membership site.

Why don't you also tell them that those sites are yours?

And that those are only 2 of dozens that you are selling the script from.

If anyone does want to buy that script, shop around...it is being sold at many price points under several different licenses. At one site Private Label Rights are $197 at another site they are only $67.

    Your welcome.

You can almost always shop around and find several price points on products like this (Private Label Rights, Master Resale Rights, etc.). A quick google search almost always brings up plenty of results.

Depending on your product, you could simply do it via e-mail with your autoresponder.

The easiest to setup with WordPress is DLGuard. All you do is add a small snippet of code to the header.php file on your theme, and your site is protected. The only negative is there isn't a way to separate what pages you want protected. 2 Sites will cost you about $127 I believe. Check it out at DLGuard.com.

Other than DLGuard you have a few other membership scripts options that will fall into certain script types.

They are the Aweber variety where you can protect folders and things of that nature... and create individual pages. This also affords you the ability to specify what you want protected, instead of it being across the board. These types of scripts run in the $150 to $300 per site range for the cost of the script. Some like "Easy Member Pro" have an unlimited sites option. Check out amember pro at amember.com. Check Easy Member Pro at easymemberpro.com.

Then there are the Butterfly Marketing type of scripts like RAP (Rapid Action Profits). These are a step above the Amember type of scripts. RAP is more affordable at around $177 or so I believe. Butterfly Marketing is not even the slightest bit cheap. The digital version will set you back about $797. You check it out butterflymarketing.com and you can check out RAP at rapidactionprofits.com.

On the high end of the membership site scripts meaning either a monthly fee or a large one time fee... there is Fantasos/JV Manager and Memberspeed/CMSInfusion. Enterprise versions of either script will cost you around cost you quite a bit. For Fantasos you are looking at $2997 and for Memberspeed you are looking at $1997. On the monthly fee side of things you can get Fantasos through another Enterprise owner for whatever you pay them per month... usually around $47 per month or more. Or you can get a monthly fee option at Fantasos.com for only $27 per month. Memberspeed is $97 per month, but offers the same benefits of the one time fee option only you pay monthly. You can check them out at Fantasos.com and MemberSpeed.com. If you register to demo the Memberspeed script you will get a coupon in their autoresponder allowing you to use the script for free for 90 days, after which it will convert to a $97 per month subscription. Without it, it is $197 to setup the first month, then $97 per month there after. There is very little that these two scripts won't do... but they are probably overkill for your site.

Out of all of these membership scripts, your best option for the type of site you have is probably Amember Pro or DLGuard setup with WordPress. If you use GetResponse for your autoresponder then go with DLGuard, because it has GetResponse built into the script you can have new members automatically opted into your list.

      Hope that helps.

    Gaetane,

I have tried two myself. I bought InstantMember a while back. It's a product from Simon Hodgkinson. I really like the ease of the point and click features it has, and it has an automatic content drip feature that releases content based on how long the person has been a member.

The setup was pretty easy, and I really liked the price. I think I paid $67 for a one site license, not sure what it might be now. Another thing I liked about it was it does not have a recurring monthly payment to use it. It does allow you to set your site up as a one time payment membership site, or a recurring payment site. If you choose recurring payment it will keep track of the members and those who don't renew will be removed until they renew.

I started building a site with it, but got sidetracked with a couple of other projects. I plan to go back and finish that project fairly soon.

The other script I bought was MemberFire. MemberFire is a lot more basic. You build the site in a more traditional manner than with InstantMember. There is a PDF file that walks you through set up, and support forums. I think MemberFire was $47 for one site license, with a $27 upsell for an unlimited site license. I got the unlimited license, and am glad I did. I will be using it for my simple sites.

If you get MemberFire and need any help I can help you out. Send me a PM with your email address, I don't have enough posts yet to send PM's so I would need your email. I have learned to use it pretty well, and there are a couple of spots where the PDF install instructions get a little confusing.

Those are the two I have tried, and I really like the MemberFire setup. I haven't used InstantMember enough yet, but I like the range of features it has.

The site listed in my sig file was built with MemberFire. That site is a free access site. I have another site I made using it also that is a paid site. You can join the one below for free to see how I have it set up if you like. Other than the affiliate products recommended inside it, there is no upsell on it yet, but there will be in the next few days.

If you want to see the paid membership site I made let me know in a PM with your email address and I will set you up with a free account so you can see that one also, as it is a very different design.

    To your success,
    Mike

    Gaetane,

You may also want to check out 'Instant Membership Site Creator'. It's a nice piece of software (PHP script, actually). You just download it, let it know which directory on your server you want to be the 'Member's Area', provide your FTP details and it take care of the rest.

I've used it on some websites and it works a charm, although you still need to handle payments via PayPal but it's easy to create a Monthly Subscription button in PayPal.

The script sells for $7 I think and it's be a fellow Warrior (can't recall his name though). It's at Instant Membership Site Creator (non-aff link).

    Hope this helps

    Hi Gaetane,

The RAP members package that has been recommended will fit the bill. Daniel (mm365) is using and it covers the full spectrum of what you will need. The next release just came out that adds more functionality, like drip content, protected links for the members area, added content pages, etc.

It can also protect WP blogs and other content areas.

You can PM me if you have any specific questions.

    Thanks,

    John

You'll have a lot more flexibility with your membership site if you use Joomla or Dot Net Nuke. Then you can add the modules you need. Change the skin and keep the content in tact.

I can tell you from experience that it is a lot easier (and cheaper) to find help for a joomla site than a DNN site.

The problem with using these "off the shelf" products like membergate is you can't customize them. Plus most of them require that you use THEIR shared hosting. If you don't like it, you can't move your site.

    Hey mrs Ross,

I have a really good software I used to build my membership site automatically. Its very good and has step by step video toturials on how to set it up.

You dont need to know any codes, nor html. Just follow the video's and within 10 minutes you'll have your membership site running.

Contact me if you are still interested.

I've made membership sites with Amember, Ubercart and built bespoke solutions. It comes down to budget and what features are required.

You already have some good advice here on the different options, but I would just like to add one thing...

I would advise against using scripts from resale rights vendors. They are almost always low quality and insecure. I have personally reviewed several that leave your server wide open to attack from hackers and spammers.

If you are going to purchase a script go with one of the more professional options (not PLR) and check reviews and check with other warriors here and you won't go far wrong. Nothing is completely secure, but if it's working for others then it will probably work for you.

Also, just to add one more option into the mix. You can run a basic membership site just using PayPal. They allow you to create subscription buttons that setup recurring payments, and they give you a PERL script to put on your server that manages permissions. If you select "manage usernames and passwords" when you create your PayPal button then PayPal will assign account details and remove them if the member cancels their subscription. There's more info here: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?c...scribe_buttons

    Thank you so very much

PS: If any of you have suggestions as to what I could do to make that site a membership site I would greatly appreciate your opinion.
