Is copying and pasting a bad thing to do as an affiliate marketer ?

I am kind of new to affiliate marketing and I've noticed that affiliate programs have reusable content such as articles and reviews. What I've done is that I've copied and pasted this content exactly as it is into my website, except that I changed the affiliate hoplink . Is this something bad for search engines ? will this affect the page rank ? Or is it rather recommendable for me to modify the articles and the reviews in some way ?

You should always use original content - try to research some keywords then write original webcopy. This will cause you to rank much higher for certain pages, therefore meaning that you get more traffic.

Also, I really wouldn't worry about pagerank too much - instead worry about your ranking in Google.

    What Jamie Said.

Unique Content is Always King. Write your own review of the product you want to affiliate and feel free to use other marketers articles as resource material. If you only copy and paste you will end into Google's duplicate list, but if you are solid on driving traffic from social websites like forums and social networks knock yourself out with duplicate content

    Good Luck

I'm new to internet marketing and everything that I have read says you need original content that will pass copyscape and the other duplicate content services.

Depends on your list and niche. If you grew your list yourself outside of JVs and ad swaps, using canned content is probably OK, even in the IM niche. If you are out of the "make money" niche there is no worry at all. Most people here have a narrow focus. The truth is most people have never heard of IM and would not recognize canned content.

If you are using someone's original article because you really like it and believe it will be "The Perfect Fit" for your website, least you can do is give credit where credit is due... For example, you go to a website and really like the content, you can always put it on your site and put at the bottom: Credit To John Smith of website.com... that's the ethical thing to do, expecially if you havea hard time creating content of your own.

Others might evn say to read the content and re-write it in your own words. 100% unique content will usually yield better results but sometimes if you are not too familiar with a niche, then getting content from others is an inevitability... Like I always say, "treat others like you want to be treated"... So if you have some great content, wouldn't you want someone to give YOU credit for it?

    Hope this helps

In my opinion, yes.. the vendor/creator made that sales page, paid for it, whatever they did. So if you are going to make money off of THEIR product from the start (since you are just an affiliate) the least you can do is write your own damn sales pitch or selling point.. Come on now. lol

You need something to make you stand out, make people WANT to buy from you.. ya know?

Please don't become a copy cat! It is so easy to start writing your own content. Use other people content for ideas and inspiration, but write what comes in your mind and what think about it. The best of all is that you first start to brand yourself and just have a link than going to your affiliate site.

Please do not make sales pitches that makes people run, but learn and become a professional marketer.

People buy from people, so show them why they should buy from you. Become an expert and sell in the area where your passion is in, think about how you can help people and the money will come, but don't do it just for the money or you will bock the money.

It's OK to copy/paste, but you have to spin the content first.

When product creators provide content for their product (as in reviews, etc) I
would prefer working off that rather than copying it and pasting it to my website.
With all of these Google penalties, I truly wouldn't risk anything in terms of ranking.

As for email affiliate swipes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I'm sure if
you are on an emotional level connection with your list, I'm quite positive that you
would not need to use a swipe, but it all depends.

what places do you get affiliate products to promote on you site. Is it website and / or blog site?
I am a newbie and just curious.

Do not copy and paste, when you copy and paste, you lose the most important element in the sales cycle, which is building relationship with your audience through your content. Infuse a bit of yourself into the content, so people get to know you, and why the go to person for that niche/product.

Nobody can answer that here. To even try assumes one has all the facts, and has the right questions in mind while trying to answer your question.

Here are the right questions you need to ask...

    1. How well is the copy and paste content that is provided converting?
    2. Do I have the skills to write my own content that will convert better than the copy and paste materials?

And number two assumes you know the market well enough, even if you can write your own copy.

Then, on top of all that, we have to factor in the SEO part of your question.

You might be better off finding forums that are focused on copywriting and SEO to get the answers you're looking for.

Its best that you use the affiliate material as a guide to creating your own reviews and recommendations. Its best for a couple of reasons
    • Its original so the search engines will love it
    • It will be better received by your customers as it will actually sound like a genuine recommendation
    • If you copy and paste, then there's a strong possibility that your customers would have seen it before and not be as responsive

  • Its not a bad thing to copy and paste using this is easy and simple if you are going to use this then be aware of copy rights that you might be breaching

I think that can affect your rankins because google doesnt like the same content in alot of articles. So try to make them different so that google ranks you better. You can get a spining software that creates different articles for you and then automaticly spin them.
Good luck and hope this helped

I wouldn't just copy and paste it. I would read it and re-write it in my own words making it original content. I would use it as a stepping stone to riches as I draw inspiration from their copy. I think once the pen hits the paper your ideas from looking at their content will just start to flow. You can be original, you just have to try..
