Is This a Good Idea for a Bonus?

Hi Gang

We are opening a new membership website with friends in the coming weeks and are brainstorming a bonus that will really 'Wow' people.

A few weeks back we had a half days consult with the amazing John Dwyer from John Dwyer - The Institute of Wow (Absolutely gob-smacking genius - TOTALLY blew us away!)

Anyway, we are looking at offering Two return tickets to Australia per every 300 members as an incentive to join. IE People will have a 1 in 300 chance of getting the trip.

Our target market will be local business owners in the UK.

What do you think?

Are we on the right track? We will also be doing the Win an IPad thing but thought a trip downunder would really be something different.

Would love to get your feedback good or bad.

Thanks in Advance!

wouldn't it be too much of a hassle? I think people might prefer just getting some product delivered to their home. like an HDTV or something. just my 2c

As a UK based business person I'd have to say no.

    1. It's a very long flight that would take away at least
    two days of my life.

    2. When I travel for pleasure I'd want to take my family
    with me.

    3. Right now I can't spare the time for a "free" trip.

    4. IMO a bonus should be given to all. I don't like the
    1:300 odds.

Sorry to pour cold water on this but I have to agree the bonus does seem to contain too much of an inconvenience factor.

And at a time of possible impending double dip recession would a local business owner really want to be half the world away from his business at this time?

A bonus should be a convenience for all the members even if you give them a small part of the share it's worth enough to appreciate your concern.

      Thanks for the feedback guys!

We have made it 2 Tickets and will test it and see what happens. That said we will be offering a fair few bonuses for everyone.

You have given me much to think about.

I LOVE this forum for that!

I guess the flight time is not that much to me (I have been to the UK about 5 times in the last couple of years) as I fly heaps.

Would love to hear other people's thoughts.

The Two Tickets to Australia are just one of the added incentives and 1 in 300 is gazillions better odds then the Euro Lottery!

      Best Regards!

    Hi Copywriter,

Based on the feedback, most of these guys aren't in your target market. You should ask your target market!! which I figure are people who are used to flying long distances, taking time away from their family (if they have one), reside in the UK and are interested in your subject matter. I think you're asking the wrong people!

Go and figure out a way to qualify prospective clients/content entry candidates and communicate directly with them.
