What to do with a domain I just bought?

Hi,

I just bought a domain which was parked for the past year or so. Lets say the url is very similar to money-blog.c0m

Market samurai throws up the following stats:

Now what is the best thing that I can do with this domain? Should I turn it into a blog about how to make money...and monetize it with google ads?
Or should I make a affiliate sales site for one of those blog monetizing products?
Please help, your suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks

My suggestion would be to just take action.

Start building the site and then figure out which route you want to go.

We can give you ideas on what to do with the site, but you personally need to take action and see what works best.

If you want to create a blog on how to make money, do it. If you want to create an affiliate site, go for it. But it's really about what your mentality can handle and what you have interest in going after.

So go out there and start right now. If you feel like changing your mind, you're allowed to

Don't be afraid to take chances.

What you probably should have done is decide what you want to do before buying a domain.

As the value of domain can only be what you think you can make from it then you need to have that plan in place before you buy.

Otherwise how do you know if the price you paid is even worth it.

Also the stats seem a little strange.
    For instance
Page Backlinks (fresh) are the backlinks found by Majestic SEO in the last 30 days. If the domain has been parked for a year why would people be linking to it?

I wouldn't wory too much about monetizarion at this point. Get some content up and see if it starts to rank. See if you get any traffic.

It's an easy task to add a few Adsense ads to anything while you decide exactly what the best path is.

I hope there is no issue for you but, as I said , the stats seem a little suspect. It is possible that a long running backlink campaign could still be running but after more than a year being parked it would seem unlikely.

Look at what the website actually was in it's previous life. Use MS/Majestic to tell you what anchor texts are in the backlinks and even where the backlinks are coming from.

Use the anchors as a guide to your new initial content

    Best of luck

    Hi,

I bought the domain because it was very cheap. I can sell it at 5x price without even doing anything to it.

There are fresh backlinks because the previous owner had started a project some time back but quit after just 20 days. Earlier this was a blog about money matters like loans, bad debt, etc...

Backlinks are mostly coming from PR1 sites...none are higher than PR3. The domain name is used as the anchor text in most cases.

Please do let me know if you find all this suspicious. I would then investigate further.

    Thanks!

Maybe you could take those stats and package it into a nice sales pitch and auction it off into Flippa for a nice quick profit.

holeyness, thats not a bad idea

but I am thinking of developing this into a simple wordpress blog on how to make money online with quality content that I will write myself. Do some SEO, install adsense and let it run for a couple of months while I continue to add content every week.

I can also add some affiliate banners because the visitors in this niche are actively looking for internet marketing material/programs/systems.

If after 6-8 months of doing all this, I am not able to generate $xxxx per month, I'll flip it.

The other option is to turn it into an out and out affiliate site complete with a squeeze page and start building a new list.

There is no "Secret Sauce" that will work until you put the above plan.into place and go for it. You do need to remember you are going to be in one of the most competitive markets on-line.

You might want to consider doing some research on a sub-niche in your chosen niche. Learn everything you can about what your targeted "buyer" is looking for and then give it to them.

See no "Secret Sauce" just common sense marketing knowledge.

I think this domain is banned by google

    no results for site:domain.com
    no results for info:domain.com
    "www.domain.com" shows only backlinks

it did cross my mind earlier that it was too good to be true...
