How am I doing so far? and some questions

Hello Warriors,

I started to read Warrior Forum 2 months ago and made my first website which I promote Amazon products about 35 days ago.

When I registered my domain which is an exact match domain I was thinking that it was a micro niche keyword pattern but after I see it was a very competitive niche and it is not a micro one too.
It is like "x for y" where "x" can be thousands of products from $1 to $1000s and "y" is a certain group of people.

I am building my website slowly and trying to get as much as backlinks, all done by me.

As I said it's been 35 days from the launch, I want to show important steps/days so that I hope you can give me some advice, or tell me how am I doing so far?

1- First 5 days I customized/learnt WordPress, tried some plugins, themes,
made a logo, buttons etc and I created some basic content.

2- After first 5 days, I started to post content (product pages, articles), and some made some backlinks (social bookmarking, commenting, etc...).
My site climbed to 1st page of google for my main keyword .

3- About day #20 google sent me to page 8 and started make more backlinks and content.

4- On the 25th day I sold an Item which I got $1 and started make much more backlinks with a smile. I climbed to page 2 again and it seems I am stable there.

5-For last 10 days I am seeing improvements: I am getting 50 visitors 30-40 from search engines daily. I sold 3 more items last 10 days which make me another $10.

So, here are my questions:

1-Am I going too slow? (about 50 visitors a day).
2-Is it OK to not post new page/post but only improve the content of existing ones (ie. making them more content rich, add more photos)?
3-Was it the google dance which put me 1st page then 8th page? (now I am page #2)

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Well done Tom. You have made a great start.

My answer to your question is "YES"

I find my best performing page and constantly edit it. I use my stats to find terms that people are using to find me. I then run them through GAKT to see the demand and if it is good to go I include it in my page. (Keeping it all relevant of course).

An example would be the word "best". If your keyword is "red widgets" and someone found you using "best red widgets" then optimise your page for that term too. When backlinking you should mix up the anchor text so you rank high for both terms.

    Or

If possible, and it does not detract from the site, write a new post about "best red widget" and link to it from the original article.

What has also worked for me lately is to link to a relevant page on wikipedia and google news. Include a youtube video if possible or some governmental website pertaining to your theme.

I could write all day Tom but time is tight. I have the same attitude as when I played football and that is: Perfect your strength's and work on your weaknesses.

Good luck son I'll keep an eye on your progress.

You are doing great man - 90% of people who want to make money online do not take action and do fail

The fact that you have made anything so soon is asign that you are definitely moving in the right direction

Try to always do something every day to push your site forward - new, quality content , updating and improving old content or helpfully contributing online (as opposed to spamming blogs and creating junk) and you will go far!

    all the best
