I asked months ago for help in marketing and promoting my artwork. I offered a JV. Sure, I received a few responses that were filled with empty promises. They heard my thoughts and then just ignored me. I sent messages to these people and none were returned to me.

At that point I even stated that I was going to carry on alone and do everything myself AND be successful.

Those folks who ignored me and would not even respond to my messages can now officially kick themselves in the behind.

I HAVE DONE IT!!!

Due to some of my artwork on a couple of very famous hockey players, a charity and a few others, these two hockey icons have agreed to work with me and endorse my artwork on TV, newspapers and on the Internet. I will reap the benefits of tons of sales through the massive exposure, and in return I will donate a percentage of my sales to a certain charity.

At the moment I don't think I should reveal the players, however, one is a retired legend and the other is an active player. Let's just say they are both the greatest players of their era.

I literally can't sleep tonight. I've just achieved something I never thought would happen to me.

In the coming months as things unfold and the marketing campaign kicks off you will know who I am and realize I'm the guy from WF.

Thanks to those 4 or 5 individuals that ignored me and didn't want to work with me. You provided me with the fuel I needed to succeed on my own!

Most anyone who is someone did it on their own, with no help from others.

It is no one's job to hold your hand and make you successful. Only you are capable of doing that.

At least you were one of the people who had the balls to step up and do what was required of them to succeed...

Hopefully more people will follow your lead...

My paintings vary greatly. I started painting landscapes and seascapes more than 25 years ago when I was 10 or 11. Since then I paint almost anything, but a few years back I started doing some hockey and sports scenes and I really enjoyed it.

A couple months ago I was invited to an art competition for sports paintings only to next years competition in Indianapolis. I started thinking then that I was getting good at them. Don't know if I'll attend the competition though. I live in Canada and it now looks like my time is going to be occupied by my new venture.

There's a big difference between being a "hater" (a much overused word) and someone who decides not to invest. The worst you can say of the latter is they're a non-believer.

As for Ken, I don't quite understand the victory lap when he doesn't even have any profits in hand yet. The thing to understand when working (or trying to) with celebrities and sports figures is that if they can screw you over, they will.

I agree with Bill, in that almost everybody has to make their initial success happen on their own steam. You're doing that, and I applaud you.

An "I told you so" attitude probably isn't the best approach for someone in your position. While that certainly feels good, I would contact those people who didn't throw their weight behind you before, and ask them to JV with you now.

It's only natural for people to be cautious about investing their time into your project when you're just starting out. But now that you have a promising project on your hands, you will probably have an easier time getting people on board. I would take advantage of that if I were you.

Good for you. I run my business all by myself too. Never asked nor expected a bunch of JVs to jump on my bandwagon. People have the right to choose what they want to partner with and what they want to promote. Getting on people's case because they chose not to JV with you or not to promote your offer is lame.

I appreciate all the positive remarks.

I don't think my comments were "lame", "4th grade" or that I have an "ego". If you feel that way, please move on and don't read my posts... simple as that. I'm not engaging in a pissing contest at this moment because I'm on the verge of achieving something great and I'm not going to let my comments ruin that.

Perhaps the "I told you so" could have been worded differently, however, with all the excitement lately, I just couldn't contain myself.

It's fine that those individuals didn't want to JV with me at the time. But it was them that contacted me and it was them that decided to ignore me. You don't wanna JV with me? No problem, but a simple message saying so would have been much appreciated rather than no comments at all. So yes, I will keep 100% of all profits now and not have to share them. Again, thanks guys for ignoring me. More money for me

This wasn't a new venture for me either, as someone suggested. I disclosed the fact early on I had been an artist for a couple decades, and I also sent samples of my work along and had nothing but extremely positive comments.

I'm glad a few said this is a great story for inspiration. I didn't plan on inspiring anyone. It was more of a "look what you lost out on" post to those who once ignored me. They know who they are. But if you can use this story for your own motivation, do it! Don't ever give up. I went from rock bottom with my hobby to being promoted by two of the greatest hockey players ever (both Canadian - ahem ) and by one of the largest kids charities ever, which coincidentally also began in my hometown.

Sorry ... if you want only positive reinforcement, you should probably lose the attitude and not post on a public forum where everyone has the right to express their opinion. Simple as that.

Thing is, I don't have an "attitude". I'm genuinely excited about my achievement.

I will say though, it seems every time you post a response in any thread, your comments sound a little bitter towards those who succeed. I don't believe I have ever seen positive remarks from you, only negative comments.

That might be your perception, but nothing is further from the truth. However, I think your attitude is off-putting. You could have made a very positive thread here with your accomplishment and got nothing but positive comments. Instead, you went on the attack of those people you approached and who rebuffed your proposition.

I guess you missed all of my threads congratulating and welcoming people to the forum and the thread where I gave away gorgeous websites to anyone who asked and many threads where I coached people on how to fix their problems, and the threads where I sponsored someone's WF membership, and the charity threads that I participated in ... but you didn't really read most of my threads.

You're right, I honestly do not read your threads or even posts anymore. I'm not trying to be an @ss here, but in all honesty the ones I have read in the past I noticed a disturbing trend where you attacked more than a few people and insulted a few others for no apparent reason.

Coincidence that I read those ones and not your helpful ones? Perhaps. But that is what I've witnessed from your past posts.

In my own thread here I myself wasn't trying to be "lame". I'm genuinely excited to be working with these two greats and this awesome kids charity. My "I told you so" was more or less my way of saying I told you I was gonna succeed with or without your help. If that makes sense.

Anyway, I have lots of work to do. Have a good day.

You must have a thing against cigars or something because I am certainly not the only one in this thread who thought that you came off with an attitude. It was mentioned several times before I mentioned it and is still being mentioned.

I've made my success a long time ago. Been working full time for myself for over 12 years. You seem to think that anyone who dares speak their mind is a troll. Pick a fight? Just expressing my opinion like the ones below did.

Many peoples accept JV opportunities but later they just ignore it, i have seen many such cases and i believe this are the peoples who are earning money but losing opportunities to make more & get more exposure. Honestly, I don't think any of the comments here are trying to ruin your success. I'm more into thinking that they are trying to help you keep your feet on the ground so to speak.

Anyway, I'm here to congratulate you. Great job in finding your own way. And just try to keep your emotions at check as you move forward.
I agree. I'm trying to stay grounded, but the excitement of working with these two icons is amazing.

      Thanks!

Congratulatons, I can relate. We started our real estate investing/short sales business about 5 years ago, and EVERYONE told us we were nuts, we were crazy, "real estate sucks right now, are you nuts!" kind of stuff. Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, for us, we KNEW that in this disaster lies opportunity. Opportunity to assist homeowners in avoiding a full foreclosure of their home through short sale. Well, forward 5 years and guess who is STILL DOING exactly what we said we would be doing. US! I tried raising capital when we first started and it was impossible, nobody would help us, not even family with just a few thousand bucks. Well we did have one friend who gave us 3,000 to get us up and running, so my point is this dude..

    SUCCESS IS THE GREATEST REVENGE!!!!

be sure to stay at your craft, work hard, because NOW the real work begins and that is launching it and actuall making money.

PS Im thinkin the legend is very "great", am I right?

    congrats, keep at it!

cant wait to see some of your works

    Hey my fellow Cannucks,

I can't blame those 5 folks you first approached to JV with you as Jockey is a niche where not so popular in other countries. Maybe Jockey is not their best performing niche who knows. So don't give up on getting JVs as not all marketers sells everything.

Search for blogs that are blogging about sports specifically Jockey sports then contact them to promote your stuff.

Good luck to your new venture.

    Cheers,
    Gama

    Ken28,

While I can kinda see how some people may have misinterpreted your initial post as cocky, I think I understand where you are coming from.

This was a huge inspiration to me.

It takes works to hold on to a vision/idea when no one else seems to "get it". And it's an amazing rush when that persistence pays off.

Don't let any negative comments or opinions get under your skin. I doubt many of them are really meant to be personal anyway.

    Again, HUGE congrats!!!

Exactly. It's hard to read someone's tone of voice on here. It may sound cocky but is actually just a huge rush right now. Glad you could decipher that and understand.

Also glad this was a huge inspiration to you. Now get out there and do amazing things yourself!!! I want to read about your success too!

I was referring to the fact that your business venture was not yet off the ground. No offense was intended.

It is obvious that you won't ignore her because you keep coming back for punishment. Dude give it a rest because Suzanne will eat you up and spit you back out, your not going to have the last word so you should just lay down your typing fingers and give up or she my give you a verbal spanking.
I don't give a crap what her name is, and I can definitely promise you 120% that I would not be the one getting chewed up. You just gotta trust me on this one. I don't care what her rep is around here for verbal diarrhea, but if she'd like to continue, she just met her match. Remember, someone else out there is always bigger, badder and better.

She can yap like a chihuahua for a bit. Dr. appointment now so I'll be offline for a few.
