  • One way of getting likes on Facebook is to have an appealing landing page. Next, is to have a mini photo contest where who gets the most likes wins. You can also offer freebies on a weekly basis. May it be a PDF report or ebook. You can also share awesome articles from your blogs or provide your subscribers videos that they will most likely share or post in their very own walls. The viral, the better.

    • I've got a FB fan page that's exploded based on the promise of a Photo Contest. Everyone who entered - emailed me the photo.

      Now I'm trying to find the best way to upload the photos into a 'photo contest' format - and most of the Apps on Facebook point to high end B2B solutions, and the WP plugins don't seem to have the right functionality.

      What's your secret for the mini photo contest?

      I've got two FB page experiments going on right now. One - it's just the most likes - in a given timeframe wins - but that one is not capturing emails like the first -and anyone can vote. (this way is super simple....)

      But the contest I already started - allows only registed participants to send me their photo - and I'm stymied on a fast affordable solution for allowing people to vote (I've only got 20 pics)

    • It's now against Facebook's terms and conditions to do stuff like have people win contests based on likes and can get your page taken down. I don't think they'd do it to a smaller company, but who knows?

      The only legal way to have a contest on facebook is to use a third party app like wildfire or woobox (I prefer woobox for mandatory likes to enter this contest - much cheaper)

      or if you host a contest or something on your blog and then promote it on facebook.

      The other great way of utilizing your blog is with a program called Rafflecopter where to enter a contest/giveaway on your blog, you have to become a facebook fan, twitter follower, and whatever else you want to specify. Its very easy to set up and use.

  • Everything others wrote is good but is not likely to significantly increase your fans. The best way to attract fans to your page is through Facebook's paid advertising.

    Yes, it costs money, but it is the fastest way to reach few thousand members in a short period of time. If your page is worthwhile the momentum of incoming fans will continue even if you stop advertising.

      Paying for traffic on FB is the only truly successful attempt I've had at monetizing anything there. I don't do much on there anymore, it just wasn't profitable enough for the time spent.

      Have you been able to monetize facebook pretty well?
  • Be very active on your Facebook Fan Page. Post good information related to your area of expertise. Post videos, quotes, photos etc.. Your Fans will like you, post comments and the word will spread.
  • Facebook like, tweet mentions, G+ follows have been having an increasing effort on SEO ranking lately.

    So if you can get them, Do. What ever you do don't buy 'em en mass.
  • What about using fb ads?
    You can get extremely cheap clicks (i'm talking 0.01-0.02 cents) that have almost an 100% ctr because your advertisement text should include something saying to click the like button below (and then some arrows in your ad image or something like that). This is because most of the clicks that you pay for will be people clicking the like button which immediately makes them a fan of the page. So if you tell them to click the like button, very few people will cost you money by clicking on the ad title.
    So yeah, use fb ads and I'm pretty sure you could get some free advertising credits if you did a quick google search :-)

    • Here are some tips:

      The "Like" button is old now, so don't count on that. People "Like" it to see what you have, then "unlike" or hide posts, etc. Junk-spamming is getting old - fast.

      Interaction is key, good interaction. Focus on smaller groups, smaller numbers of fellow Facebook members, instead of trying to reach masses, at least for local and / or niche (or even joint venture) connections.

      And work events, don't just post over and over with new ones everyday. Have one a month or so and work it: post about it, add photos, videos, tip sheets, invite interaction on the theme and follow up, etc.
  • First you can use the facebook ad platform to find your fans that's a good way especially if you have a page that people are passionate about.

    If you're looking to get viral likes you need to put your page out there if you're not willing to spend a few dollars. The only way to get it viral is for people to really think it's funny or awesome or useful.

    • Facebook has really lot to do with the online marketing success of your website. It's becoming a trend. But don't just post links after link directing to your site. I usually participate a lot, replying on comments, posting some pictures, and sharing something people will take interest about. Once you gain their trust getting their "likes" and marketing something won't be that hard.
  • Be interactive. Even if you have a small group of people, interact with them and be real. No one likes a robot, they like humans.

    When you call a company and you immediately get an automated response, it sucks. We like to call companies and hear a persons voice right off the bat.

    So be real, interact with your fans, and see what they like.

  • You couldn't charge much for setting up a Facebook page. Anyone can do that. Any business can have their 15 yo daughter do that. Managing and building the likes to their Fan Page is another story.
  • You have to actively work your Fan Page. Post interesting post like great videos, photos, information. It's best that you automate all that task for it is being posted throughout the day. Let everyone know about your Fan Page and ask people to like you.

    One of the fastest ways to get (LIKES) to your page is to simply post ENGAGING content - meaning always end your post with a question. Get your fans to interact with your page.

    Ask them questions - answer all questions - post useful, helpful content - interact with like minded individuals on a daily basis.

      Yes Mauricio so instead of buying likes why not buy invites? Invites just suggest the page to these prospective fans and give them the option to "Like" the page if they like it. Buying Likes will get you more people but will they be targeted is the real question.

      The more targeted your fans are the more likely they will respond to your updates and give you a better chance of building a relationship with them.

      If I bought Likes for my fan page it would be only to gain social proof, nothing else.

  • Liking someone else s page with the hopes that they will like your page back is not a strategy that works very well on Facebook, it works very well with Twitter but Facebook is a completely different animal all together. The strategy that has worked very well for me on Facebook is that when someone takes action and clicks on your ad or the link in an announcement you have to give them no other choice but to like or share your page in order for them to get whatever it was they are after. If you are giving away a free ebook for example they must like or share your page before they can receive the free ebook. This is very easy to do with the use of the custom tabs and a little HTML coding.
