Does this sound like too much?

I have a site that gets a lot of traffic by my standards, though maybe not by yours. I've had about 10,000 visitors since the middle of August and I've not really worked on it because my sale attempts have been poor.

I'm currently 5th for a 40,000 keyword, and 13th for a 30,000 keyword. I've had about 500+ hoplinks and no clickbank sales. Since i've decided to go down the Amazon route, i've decided to plaster my site with Amazon products.

It's an information site, really, so i've added a video page + books page to my nav bar and put lots of product image links there. I've also added links to every image on my posts and a image link at the bottom of each post.

I'm hoping I make a few sales, then I will aim for ranking my keywords at number 1.

But, do you think this is too much? Also, should I have written reviews about the products, instead of just bashing up pics?

Cheers

If you are just looking to plaster your site with advertisement you will probably do better with Google Adsense. Typically you need good reviews of products to make money with Amazon.

You could also try switching the clickbank product. Maybe the one you were promoting just does not convert all that well.

I'm not looking to plaster it. I just want that first sale, and I thought giving the visitor as much opportunity to reach Amazon might be a good thing. I'm happy to listen to suggestions what is best though.

I've tried adsense and I made pennies per click. I don't think its the kind of site that would profit from adsense anyway. Plus, the most common add is from a program that declined me as an affiliate, so I don't want to give them profits while I make a matter of pennies.

It's also important to consider the kind of products you're trying to promote. I've seen a lot more success with niche or obscure products rather than being main stream or well-known.

You might want to capture the email addresses of visitors who visit your site. The fact is that 99% of people do not buy anything the first time. So if you can get them on your mailing list and then develop a relationship over a few emails, you will be in a better position to sell to them. The money is in the list!
