Hi everyone.

Even though I'm almost four years into IM, I made the classic misake and relied mainly on one traffic source, and you can guess what it is. Unfortunately, after I changed my domain from a 19-characters-2-dash name to a much simpler 7-character one, I lost about 99% of my traffic from that source. Since this website is almost 4 years old, I have some traffic from articles and a blog site I own.

This site has plenty of links (I think the new domain that received so many links from the 301 redirects caused me to get a penalty), so all I need is traffic.

I've looked for some traffic providers that promise 10K visitors for under $10 (and many others that promise around the same price), but honestly, I don't think they're worth even 10 cents. They say traffic will come from popups, pop-unders, and all kinds of pops that I, as a user, close automatically. They probably convert at a fabulous rate of 0%.

My question is: how can I get traffic with even a half decent conversion rate (my pages have been converting for years, so that's not a problem)? I don't care if it's free or paid, as long as I get more than my investment back.

Please try to avoid the usual lectures (search the forum - all I found was WSOs, all eggs in one basket, no list - I don't think a list will help me sell more. Seriously). I've learned my lesson, and now I want to progress while hoping my reconsideration request will be accepted.

EDIT: Forgot to mention: I have a YouTube channel, Facebook page, and Twitter account for that website.

EDIT2: I am an affiliate of physical goods, no info products at all. My website is built with pages that contain affiliate links, and each one of these has many articles pointing to it (mainly product reviews of the company).

Thank you very much!
nadavs

Why not try facebook and/or youtube.

It's pretty easy to get visitors and followers on both of those - and if you pre-sell whatever you're selling on your site nicely, you should get a decent conversion rate too.

Sorry to hear about you losing all your traffic to, ya know if you'd search the forum and just build a list..... J/K

I think you have very good judgement, here, and will almost certainly have that exactly right.

Well, you haven't told us anything at all about your business model, but please excuse the observation that in my opinion, that belief may make it very, very difficult (perhaps even impossible) for anyone who's actually earning a living to help/advise you, and leave you being advised only by people who aren't speaking from where you want to go.

We don't even know if you're a vendor or an affiliate, have no idea what sort of market you're selling to, whether you're doing CPA, building up a membership site, or what ... and I can't help feeling that you may get slightly more helpful replies if you can offer just a little bit more information. There are endeless threads/posts here suggesting "traffic sources", and it seems from your question as if this might be the kind of thing you're asking about ... but then again, maybe not, as you say you've searched the forum and found only WSO's and eggs/baskets ... so I'm not embarrassed to say that I'm confused, here.

If your pages convert, go for paid traffic like Facebook or Pay Per Click.

Google/Adwords is a pain but for PPC you can use Pulse 360, MSN Adcenter, 7 Search, etc.

I know a lot of people don't like 7search but they wouldn't still be around if they were that bad!

Alexa, as I wrote after your post, I am an affiliate in many niches. I promote my website mainly with articles reviewing the company itself and its products. Only physical goods, no info products.

      Thanks ...

I promote very few physical products, myself.

Have you thought about trying niche-related articles and having them syndicated to appropriate sources of targeted traffic (i.e. ezines with targeted subscribers and/or niche websites with regular traffic of their own), in the form of offering a "content for links" deal, effectively, to publishers/webmasters of appropriate places?

(I ask because you're writing articles anyway. It's true that they'd have to be different articles from your current style, probably, because very few people will syndicate articles reviewing a company or specific products - that's a bit "too promotional" for voluntary syndication, even by the huge numbers of people "seeking content".)

No, Alexa, I haven't thought of that. Actually, I don't write the articles myself (they're outsourced, but good). I can write myself for that purpose, even though it will probably take me a long time.

How good is the technique you're offering? How much traffic can I get on average from 20 articles and pretty crowded niches?

Ok ... yes, they'd need to be good. But if you're outsourcing to a decent writer, that shouldn't be a great problem. If your writer understands the concept of "writing for syndication", he'll get the message, and if not, you can perhaps cannibalise this thread and send him the key points in it as "client's instructions"?

Your English is obviously fluent enough, anyway.

"Pretty crowded niches" isn't much of a problem, if you're doing it for traffic rather than for SEO purposes. (You do get some good SEO out of it, also, but obviously in "pretty crowded niches" you need more to get anywhere with that).

It's possible to get floods of targeted traffic when you have a real "hit" but there's trial and error involved. You can have two or three articles that produce very little and then another one that suddenly brings thousands of visitors, sometimes even without really understanding why.

This post of Paul Uhl's ("myob") will interest you greatly, I think.

Not to mention this whole thread.

Paul is absolutely the person to advise you about this, because he very successfully uses it to promote physical products in competitive niches. And probably he'll reply when he sees the thread.
