I have an observation.

It seems a lot of the up and coming CB "how to make money" courses are trending with a similar theme: "automated system that makes you money with very little work"

Is it just me or is this deja vu? I feel like 2001 all over again when I first got into this stuff. I quickly realized that the real money came from buckling down and focusing on doing the work and getting it right, and THEN starting to automate the processes.

I don't want to sound like I'm bitter or hateful, I'm not hatin! Just an observation and I see a lot of talk about automation, outsourcing, etc.

It just seems the entire goal of all of that is for the individual who is doing it to make money and quit their job, etc. I guess it seems like quality and content don't matter in that realm and as long as you can get Google to like you or think you are quality content then you've won.

But wouldn't that lead to a bunch of sites and services that lack true quality?

Like what's so bad about sitting down and writing a blog post every day that is quality content for your visitors? Think about the big truly money sites, like Facebook, or Perez Hilton.

Those guys worked hard to create something that was quality. Look at Youtube, they nearly went bankrupt before Google bought them out...they were paying out of their pockets to keep the site up.

Did Perez Hilton get so popular by outsourcing all this material and get some article writer to make his posts?

Was facebook really coded by some guy on some site where the job was bid for?

Was Google created by a random programmer for a few bucks and then thrown on a shared hosting plan?

It just seems if you want real money then maybe providing real content and services that really matter and really have meat to them is the way to go.

If I want to mimic the results of someone I should mimic the actions and quality of work...or surpass it, right???

Just all IMHO.

Hey, I just want to say that I agree with the points you are making. There's nothing bad about sitting down writing a blog post every day and putting work in to create services and products that you worked hard on to create quality.

I believe ultimately that is the recipe for long term success.

However, there is a huge number of people out there that want instant riches. There are plenty of people out there that think writing a blog post a day is "too much work".

There are people who want to do less and make more. So as long as there are people out there who want to make millions doing no work (and there always will be) there will be products aimed at them.

I'd like to get rich overnight too but I know that's not going to happen. We have worked long and hard on our dayjob and our online biz is about two yrs old now. We work hard on it too. The only thing we outsource is a geek for the parts of the website that I cant do, like the Paypal thing. Other than that we come up with the content.

I really dont get these people who think they can come up with an idea and get someone else to implement it for them and they will then wake up the next morning with a pile of money in their bank account and they've done bugger all to earn it. Life doesnt work that way.

There's also a great deal of satisfaction in coming up with an idea, researching it, making a plan to sell your product, doing the work, and seeing a few bucks come in. With more hard work you can make even more money. You need to be in it for the long haul if you want success.

The get rich quick theme has been around as long as man, but I do think that the internet has the award for more shiny objects!

In the beginning I was suckered in to the shiny objects, but not for the get rich quick part, I wanted to learn how to create a good product and a good site.

Buying these items are like buying lottery tickets - I never have won buying those either - but my odds for the lottery are much better than allot of the things offered to make me rich quick

      Great responses everyone, thank you.

Jason, you made me realize something...as long as there are millions trying to get rich quick with no work, those of us who work at it and go all in for the long term, will have that much less competition and that many more opportunities to succeed.

Just to spin more positive in a potentially soap box topic!

    lifeempowered.

    I think you are SPOT-ON.

GREAT questions. No, you are NOT "bitter or hateful".

You are asking the question(s) that everyone else needs to.

This whole get-rich-quick industry is "funded" by newbies or Charlie Browns.

What is a Charlie Brown? Well, every year Charlie Brown thinks that Lucy is FINALLY going to let him kick the football.

But EVERY year... she pulls it away as he tries to kick and he falls down.

I have personally spent over $150K on courses and trainings since 2005.

I have GREATLY slowed that down. Still, every now and then... I see an offer almost too good to be true. I buy... and then usually get disappointed.

You are RIGHT. To succeed (long-term) on the internet, you cannot be a fly-by-night coder or do things half-ass. You MUST be professional and strive for excellence in every thing you do.

Mark my word... the day is coming soon when "content is king" will be supplanted by a great design and a great look and feel and tremendously hard work.

Good analogy about the Charlie Brown thing, lol, I like that.

All I know is hard work always pays off when you are working hard to do something good and meaningful. Be the change as Gandhi would say, because that is how we improve our world and ourselves.

The question then is, what are YOU going to do right now to be the change and make waves?
