Credit Card Hacked. Be Careful Warriors

My credit card is hacked a few days back. I was surprised when I received my card statement. $97 was taken without my permission. I had to close my card immediately.

Someone/some company called "SYNAPTIC MARKETING, HENDON, AUS" is taking $97.00 from credit cards without permission. It's been reported from many credit card users all over the world.

google the phrase and you'll find thousands of complain.
So, warrior friends, please take care.

Thanks.

To be honest, no idea. But before the date, I bought some stuff from tradebit.com (definitely not accusing them).

But one thing is clear. It wasnt' taken from paypal account.

Also being spyware in my computer might be a reason.

These are all assumption. My credit card company asked me to make a written complain. I'll do my best to get the money back.

I am going to have to be more careful. I found $100/mont in false charges to my credit cards earlier, and on the 28th a company levied a $2.50 charge against me. I checked and similar things happened to MANY. They specialized in something I have NEVER paid for, and help otthers with something I NEVER pay for.

Anyway, stealing from credit card accounts is EASY! The first like half dozen numbers can be figured out based on the card(card type, issuing bank, banks branding on the card) They, along with the rest, follow a well documented sequence that is usually used to prevalidate the card. So you have like 1/2 the numbers AUTMATICALLY from the start. Most of the others are likely to be valid. If it weren't for the expiration date, they could just run through them all. Banks may have set periods or months though, which further limit, etc....

There really should be some kind of triple blind validation method. Apparently, VISA has such a method, but it is rarely used. By triple blind, I mean that the vendor passes the issuer a token generated by a token they get from the issuer, and the purchaser must enter a secret code to the issuer before they will let the vendor get the money. THIS way, the vendor can't just charge the card, data isn't going all over, and the purchaser can't learn the method. ALSO, another can't use the vendors merchant account.

Most of hackers steal shopping websites databases and that's where they get credit card infos. Make sure that you buy only from encrypted URLs!

That's really not that unusual. There are card number thieves all over. Recall reading an article in the NYTs a while back about how people in some countries viewed account hacking and card number theft as a viable occupation.

Dispute the charge with your bank. They will refund your money. It will take some time, but they will credit your account.

You think the CC provider would have worked it out by now. I've lost a few credit cards now, and I'm always pretty careful.

But I've never lost money - the bank calls me up and says

"are you buying $3k worth of flights in Malaysia"
    "errr... nope"
"Ok, we are shutting down your card"

    Fraud protection is a winner

Prevention is better than cure! Never type your credit card information for web payment. First of all write down all of information about credit card (number, cvv, address etc) in a text file. Then store that text file to any private folder or encrypted folder in your PC hard drive. When you need to insert somewhere your credit card information, then just copy and paste them. No spyware/ malware don't crack or hack your information.

Also, never share your card info in a non encrypted connection.

You should be so careful who you give your credit info to.

There have been a few security breaches in the last few months where loads of credit cards have been illegally accessed.

A few years ago a credit card of mine was accessed on an account I never made a purchase from. The crook bought World Cup tickets in South Africa for over $900. My cc called me to see if I made the purchase, then took it off my card.

This is the major reason credit cards are better than debit cards. You have more rights with a cc and they don't take the $ directly out of your bank account.

Amazing the technological know how that some of these hackers use to make fraudulent purchses. I agree that a credit card is better than a debit card. I have had my bank call me on several occassions when they saw unusual activity on my account. I always thank them for calling and encourage them to keep an eye out for me.

I have read that porn and gambling sites are more dangerous than holding raw fish bait in a pool of sharks in the ocean. I don't know that to be true but I guess the best advice is to always be as careful as you can with your accounts.

Crooks come up with all kinds of creative things to do.

When I first moved to Cali there were people putting these things in the credit card reader at gas stations. You slide your card in and it lets you pay BUT it also swipes your info.

For all you warriors out there, I really do endorse using a very good anti-virus / security firewall program such and Norton internet security or Mcafee.

On top of that, download a program called Malware bytes and run a full scan every week or two weeks. This will keep the spyware and malware to a minimum.

If you're on the web with no protection, you're asking to be hacked. Also, be wary of any shady sites and don't visit them. Some can infect you with a click of the mouse.

I only use a debit card to make purchases online. At least, the money the thieves can steal from your debit card is only limited to the amount inside my bank account. I make it a point not to leave large amounts of money in my bank account that was linked to my debit card. Every time money arrives at my bank account, I make it a point to move that money to another account where it is safer.

Also be careful when inputting your credit card details, even on safe sites such as Amazon. Hackers can steal your credit card info through keyloggers. You can use a virtual keyboard when inputting your credit card details, to make it impossible for keyloggers to copy your information. And make sure to have an up-to-date antivirus program and run regular scans!

A VPN wont protect you're identity from being stolen. All that does is spoof your IP address. If an identity thief is after your credit card information, what use do they have for your IP address?

Think of all the third party middlemen used in many transactions, especially in the make money online market. If you buy a WSO, who does the payment go through before hitting paypal?

What would happen if clickbank, warriorplus or jvzoo transactions were obtained somehow and used illegally.

Also look at some of these CPA networks all over, not the established ones like CJ, etc. But the ones who re market other affiliate offers. I remember joining one not too long ago when I first started looking into CPA networks. The scammy ones seem to be those showing up when you try and research CPA netowrks. I got a bunch of random phone calls after that from a few different places, I can only imagine what they may do with the information I sent them when I registered. W9, name address, etc.. pretty much everything to steal my identity.

I had two cards that were compromised last year including
my Paypal Debit. Apart from the inconvenience of getting
