Hope he's still loaded with some cash - he's going to need it to even have a chance of competing.

I was hoping to read that his search engine is called "Hammer Time". Anyway, I wish him luck and hope that his engine will gain more search share than Google.

He seems to be giving you the V sign Brian. Over here that's the same as "flipping the bird".

Why are you not wearing a Rambo style bandana like he was, or did you take it off for the photo?

        Hey Richard...

Glad the little "cultural exchange" we had a little while back is taking effect.

  • What does it do when you can't find a file?

Instead of 404 - does it say "Can't Touch Dis!"

this isn't going to bring back those stupid "hammer harem pants" is it?

    Wiredoo?

When I first saw the name of the search engine, I though it said "Weirdo". Then I saw the logo and realized it's "Wire Doo".

    Umm...

    "Doo" as in "doo-doo"???

So, it translates as "wire crap". I don't think people want to think about "doo" coming through the "wire" that connects their computers to the Interwebs.

    Bad name, IMHO.

That being said, I do wish Mr. Hammer the best of luck and hope he can make a go of it.

    All the best,
    Michael

Dont hate the play hate the game ,
cant hate on him for trying , but you know he just thought one day if i had my own search engine maybe i would be rich again. The name is the worst name in the world i also thought it said weirdo, as well as his idea to go after the biggest company in the world. sorry hammer looks like you will have to try something else. But really if it takes off i hope his hammeradsense program is better then G's.

I have to say that this is a new arena for him to jump into, but why not? As far as the name, crap isn't the only translation. In fact, it just might be the name to hit a nice target audience!

  • Jeez EBR - If you gave him the idea...I hope to hades you didn't give him the name Wiredoo!

How much money did he spend/waste on market research to come up with that...

(that reminds me of the time Orville Redenbacher said he gave a marketing research company a rather large sum of money to come up with a name for his new popcorn company...3 months later, they came up with the same name his Mom came up with for free -:p)

Who knows? It could be the "hammer pants" of search engines...
(If I remember...didn't he even have a Saturday morning cartoon show - like a Cosby wannabee?)

@ blillard - he moved to Tracy, huh? For the commute?
What ever happened to that big monster of a house in the Fremont Hills...the bank own that?

At least he made a fortune - and in real money. Proof of fame on record for posterity too; TV, video, radio, magazines, newspapers. Unlike some of the self proclaimed big earners that we come across here on-line.

So yes, he does deserve respect.

      Just my thoughts,
      Jeff.

The only thing funny is that there's a bunch of people on here spending up on WSO's hoping to get rich online. 90% + will fail.

And yet when someone does something ambitious and visionary, people give the guy cr@p.

It's no wonder that the majority fail in life and accept mediocrity.

I say good luck to him and may he find success he deserves for giving it a real shot.

Unlike many on here... he won't die wondering.

It's not like he's doing this all on his own.

He obviously seems to be really in to technology and has been doing business in Silicon Valley for over 10 years, according to his speech. Yeah, I know, most people probably didn't watch it.

I think he's really into this stuff and probably has been investing money in other tech ventures for a while. For this one, looks like they chose him as the face of the venture, but I bet there's many other ventures the he wasn't the "face" for, in which he was still involved.
