MediaTraffic question

I apply for Mediatraffic and they emailed me that to activate my account i need to give them a copy of my ID (with signature and photo) and a copy of the front and back of my credit card (if i want to add fund to my account.

Just want to ask why they need a "copy of the front and back of the credit card"
Is it secure if I give them the copy?

Would like some opinion from any warrior who have joined mediatraffic.

    That's really going to an extreme in countering stolen CC problems, usually? a business hands that sort of policing to their payment processor.

    At least one blogger took exception to their practices and printed their reply to a critical letter.
