How Would You Monetize A Site Were...

I need a little help on monetizing my new site. This site is based around video game news (PS3, 360, PC). With the methods of traffic that I am now using, I can bring in 5000 unique visitors per day with little work. If anyone has any experience with monetizing this type of traffic it would help me out a ton if you would provide some feedback.

    A few different ideas...

Amazon - put product reviews or banners...etc etc of related products, there are a ton of video games and systems there to promote.

Write your own group of short special reports and give them away for free on a squeeze page to capture emails and start building your list for that niche. Once you have a list then start sending them emails regularly and add in some product recommendations (with your affiliate links ofcourse) occasionally, dont overdo it or you will run your list dry because they dont want to feel like all you ever do is try to sell to them. You can also write more detailed reports later and sell those to your list as well....

Ther are a lot of possibilities with traffic like that in a niche full of hungry prospects.

    Good luck!

    Hey,

I'd suggest Amazon products - promote games consoles and accessories at the best prices.

You could also look into CPA offers and maybe consider AdSense, depending on the CPC for your keywords.

There are lots of options really but I'd suggest banner ads or similar for Amazon products as a good place to start.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks
    Eleanor

Sadly, I live in NC and can't use Amazon. Does anyone one know how well adsense does with this type of traffic?

With 5K unique daily, you might want to get to know your customers a little better.

I like Kiss Insights for that kind of thing. Find out what platform(s) are most prominent. Find out what games your users play. Etc.

    Beyond that, test, test, test!

As Rsberg said, building a list is always a good idea, but the feedback will help you know what to send to your list.

I've seen people have good luck with WoW leveling guides (and similar products) which you can find on ClickBank.

It really comes down to figuring out what your visitors are most interested in (What keyword is bringing them in?) - and then providing ads that are optimized to appeal them on that basis.

If all else fails, you might want to see if you can get accepted at BuySellAds - that's roughly 150K unique/mo, and looking really quickly it looks like other players at that level of traffic would be roughly $500/mo in profits (after BSA's fees).

    Good luck!

This is the site: gamersnewsfeed dot com

Do you guys think Adsense would work well with visitors in this context.

And yes, I am planning on using them in the future. First I have to get the traffic up before they accept me though.

        Nice site!

Your site's layout would allow Adsense to be put in fairly naturally, so no issues there.

Mostly it is just a question of what your visitors respond to. You can poll them and analyze the keywords that bring them to your site, but ultimately nothing is going to beat real world testing.

Looking at the site, I would suggest gaming PC companies (like CyberPower, who is on CJ) - you can get like 2% with them IIRC, and with gaming systems easily heading into the multiple thousands. On that same note, NewEgg (also on CJ) would be a pretty natural fit as well.

Get a rotator and make sure to have decent tracking going on, and see what people click on.

Hey...I have a game site and been working it for about 2 years now. I have tried several different methods but in my case I found the best results with affiliate. It gets good traffic everyday and sales everyday but I work the business plan.

But without seeing the site and how it is put together it is hard to say. But this is my 2 cents worth
    • Make sure you are building a list, and make sure it is at the bottom of the posts so that people sign up after reading the news.
    • If you use adsense test it and see what works. For me I do image on the right and block with words on the left. That works on my sites, but it is different depending on the crowd.
    • If you use affiliate make sure it is a place that tracks and gives you credit. Amazon is good with this since they cookie so well. But unless you drive crazy traffic it is hard to get money. Usually around %4.
    • Create your own product and give away for free on your site when they sign up. Or sell it as a report. If you go this route I would learn everything you can about how to sign up affiliates. This is the key for your list building and making money.

Of course you will only go after one of these methods, dont try them all, find the one that works for you and when you make money, duplicate what you just did.
