Amazon Commission Question

Several of the items I'm thinking of promoting are sold from external websites off of Amazon. Do I get a commission on this sales if someone goes from my link on Amazon to the external website?

    Hey,

Do you mean third party items?

It's hard to know what you mean - you either promote Amazon products (which includes third party items on the marketplace, Javari and their clothes stores etc.), or you don't.

If you can get an affiliate link from Amazon to promote a product then you'll get a commission.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

Thanks, it makes sense, but I am now a little confused with other ideas below...
If I do as you said, but only with my US account, will it automatically change to amazon.com.uk?
sorry I know this might be confusing again.

There is a plugin called Amazon link localizer however it has very mixed reviews if it actually works well and I don't use it simply because I don't want to take any chances of losing a sale, so if I have a product that is relevant or country specific or has the same product but different product number for another country I add 2 links and link directly to the product and relevant Amazon site which guarantees i don't lose a sale.

        Kickin it on Amazon

what if a UK customer ordered an item and delivered from Amazon.com UK through my US affiliate link? Can I still get my commission?

Yes you will still get the commission.

A couple of tips for Amazon

        1. It's only really worth the commission if you are selling
        very high priced products.

        2. Cross promote your Amazon product with a bestselling
Clickbank product for much higher commissions.

You can do this on your money page or in your email follow-ups.

Or dozens or hundreds of lower priced items

Nathan, I love the tip about cross promoting clickbank products. You could search for clickbank products that are informational yet related to the physical amazon product you are selling. Yeah, nice touch.

        Thanks

You need to have a separate Amazon Associates account for each country, and then your customer would have to order through that specific country in order for you to be able to receive your commission.

However if someone visits your Amazon.com account but then switches to Amazon.co.uk to order you will not get a commission unless they go through your separate Amazon.co.uk account

But if a UK customer orders through your Amazon.com account and has it shipped to the UK you will get your commission.

I'm not sure on this one as I always only promote US Amazon to US customers.

If you're using Wordpress, there's a plugin called Affiliate Link Localizer which makes it so that if a UK customer visits a US website and clicks on an Amazon link, they are redirected to the UK Amazon site and vice versa.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks
