I just thought about this, if someone clicks on amazon link to buy a product from another country example from America to Germany, where would the link take them to. Will it be amazon.com or would it be amazon.de and if it is amazon.de do we get the commission for that.

Where they are taken to will depend on the link itself. The link will either be for us, de, ca, uk etc.

You can earn commisions for amazon products in other countries but you need to sign up for their specific affiliate program.

And even then you'll probably need to use a plugin such as amazon link localizer which will work out where the visitor is from and change the link to their specific country.

I've found the affiliate program converts pretty poorly in other countries though, so I don't even bother with them any more. I just build my sites for the US and I'm happy to lose the odd sale here and there for the sake of simplicity.

Also the link localizer when it works, will only direct a person to the Amazon country and not the actual product if it has a different product number or is a slightly different name which in the majority of cases is the case. etc

I find that the foreign sales add up over time and I certainly would not discount them.

*Usually* the same product will have the same ASIN or identifier, no matter which Amazon site it is listed on. I don't know if the link localizer tries this first or not.
