(Best Ways to Get Started) Do you remember how you got started? Let's hear your story.

Hello

I am new to this and I heard about this from a friend and people talking about it. I would like to know what is the BEST way to get started? I would like to hear your story when your first started and where you are at now.

If you can do it all over again what would you change knowing that you wouldve been more effective from the beginning. I would like to follow your footsteps. Its good karma to help a newbie out. You were once there

The best way to get started out is to just freakin' do it.

I got started when I was contacted in 1997 to help

Recruiters Online Network: resumes job bank recruiting resources

achieve top 10 visibility in search engines. Back then, Infoseek was doing real time indexing, so I'd be able to change, say, keywords to capitals, reindex, and then see how it changed me ranking.

Here's my site from 1997 - wow, the times have changed!!

BUSINESS AND INTERNET RECRUITERS RECRUITING PREMIERE SITE

But for newbies to get started....

    Research, implement, learn....

    And rinse and repeat.

    Hope that helps!

  • First thing you need is studying, reading some ebooks, articles and forums, where people are sharing their experience. practically make and learn everything you read and understand. And the success will come very soon, if you'll be dedicated.

Starting is the easy part. Not quitting is the hard part. It took me years to realise consistantly doing the same things that work (once you discover them) leads to success.

Best way to get started is to get the ball rolling. Pick a domain name and a web host. Pay for it on a credit card, don't worry about finding the cheapest deal, you get what you pay for. You will be confronted with question after question. Don't stop, keep going and perservere. When you are presented with a new question, find the answer.

Best way to start: start today and work every day. Have a plan and stick with it. Don't buy more than ONE course that you can follow daily. That's what we did and almost hit $100k in our first 9 months working online.

    Detour,

I took my tax return and invested in a course that taught me how to build and flip websites. This taught me how to find markets, build wordpress websites and how to sell them. I rolled this into affiliate marketing and consulting.

You need to invest in your education and implement what you learn. If you only buy courses and do nothing with them you'll fail. Sorry but this is the reality. You have to be made of steel and be ready to fail more than you succeed.

I have a problem with jumping to the 'next best thing' or the next best WSO promising me to make millions. It just doesn't happen like that.

IM is a progressive gig and if I were to change anything it would be my running around like a headless chicken trying to make money rather than focusing on one thing at a time.

I started with article writing. I did freelance work to pay the bills, but also did article marketing for small niche sites to build some long term autopilot income.

We took our daytime offline job, which is stone chip repair to vehicles for area car dealers, and created complete kits for the do it yourselfer. This was my husband's idea, and I thought it was brilliant. Our main job has been a huge success and these DIY kits are a natural extension.

It's been about 1.5 yrs since we started the online biz and if we were to do it over I think we'd have been more aggressive, worked harder to get our name out there, do more advertising. We are chugging along well, but it could be better.

Yeah I know there is a lot of information out there. Just wondering if there is anything that you read that you can say "Only if I came across this first, then I would have gone with this guide from the beginning"

This information you gathered where can I get this info? Would you say its pretty laid out and easy to follow versus me getting hit with all this info from different angles? Its like cooking you have all these ingredients but no cook book with a simple way to follow.

      Thanks

    Hi DetourWarrior,

I started with Clickbank and affiliate marketing, because I had absolutely no money to start. Really. I drove traffic directly to the offers with safelists and traffic exchanges. Now, I can hear the roaring laughter of other fellow warriors here

Later on I learned about list building. And this is when it really started for me!

So if I could do anything different, I would even borrow the money for a domain name, hosting and autoresponder, and start with building the list using the same (very ineffective but then available methods). BTW - getresponse.com - one of autoresponder services is free up to 1000 contacts, Aweber, which is the most popular, charges $1 for the first month and $19+ ever after.

A typical list building sequence is like this:

Squeeze page (with great free offer) => Thank you page (with info that they need to confirm the subscription, but before that they might look at those great resources below - here you can put your affiliate banners) or One Time Offer (paid) => download page.

This way you build your list (and this is always the most precious asset), and have a chance to make some affiliate sales.

Whatever you do, think of list building as your priority.

Have fun, enjoy, profit, and prosper.

I know I'm just "young" here too, (thankfully young somewhere lol) but I did try internet marketing a couple of years ago and not realising that there are so many different ways you could go, went in a few different directions consistently, not really understanding that I had to stick with one thing. It can be a minefield for someone totally new. Anyway, out of lack of knowledge and understanding all of the different methods of online marketing, I never really dug deep into any one area and ended up throwing it in.

It was only about 2 months ago I accidentally stumbled across a top internet marketing company that specializes in all area's of internet marketing training so every single thing I need to know or learn about is all there as deep as I want to go. The only thing they only touch on the basics in is actually building a site - and I use Wordpress.

About a month ago, I sought out training for wordpress to nail that down and found a great wordpress training site who's standards are right up there with the internet marketing company. These two and these forums are the only three things I need to learn everything I need to know.

And where the guys above get it right is - just focussing on getting one thing done and done right at a time.

As my mentor from the internet marketing company says - as long as you are doing SOMETHING each day to get you closer to the mark, that's all you need to do. As a result, I actually have a daily and weekly educational AND action schedule in place. I work at it from 9 til 3 while my son is at school, use the mornings to watch training videos when the brain is fresh, and the afternoons to do what I've learned. Have from 3pm - 7.30pm off with the family to do housework and cook etc. Then I do my backlinking/SEO for a couple of hours in the evening. That's how straightforward it is. Patience is key. Education is necessary. Action is paramount.

    Hope that helped.

Edit - Detourwarrior if you pm me with your email addy I will give the names of the two companies for you to take a look at if you like. I can't pm yet and I dont want to link them here in case it's bad.

I got started with a crappy looking review site with clickbank products on it. I started driving traffic to it by submitting articles to Ezinearticles. On my first day of making any money at all (6 months in) I made over $100. I've been hooked ever since.

I started with a mere search in Google about "how to make money online" then the rest is history. Keep reading and keep searching. I also experienced a lot like I was scammed so many times, trusted wrong people and bought non-sense make money online methods. But don't surrender I have encountered real friends and real guru which I have now a big debt of gratitude for them.

Almost 2 years ago I had no clue what affiliate marketing was! I actually bought a pretty crappy niche website on flippa and had no clue what to do with it. I read a lot of ebooks and mostly Seo books. I monetized it with affiliate products, added some quality content, did a lot of backlinks and boom I hit the first page of Google! I still make a couple of hundred of dollars of month on this website and probably will never sell it because it was my first success with a website!

I ran an ad in Warriors for Hire and started writing.

What would I have done differently? Charged higher prices to start.

Now I'm turning my focus more towards ebooks. Ghostwriting them for others plus writing my own.

The important thing is to get started. You can change and adjust as you go along.

I'm an avid reader...but at some point you have to stop reading and start doing.

probably one of the best questions and I could write a nice novel about this but the story will be 10 times longer in just a few short years.

Started at a "startup" waiting to work in finance. While waiting to get onto the trading side I was taught this SEO/SEM thing that I had never heard of. Learning the slow poke Slow hat style of contact blog owners and paying for sponsored posts and watching $120,000 in invested capital go to waste because the owner of the startup was incompetent meant that I was going to do a better job and do everything he didnt do.

Not long after we started with our first sports site knowing only a little bit and from there I found this place called the Warrior Forum which honestly has changed my life (whoever owns the forum I owe you a donation on top of being a War Room Member).

The door ways that opened up and the knowledge that I have learned from trial and error has made a world of difference in the overall outcome of my life.

You need to stick it out realize most of the time its going to take a few years before you start seeing a real return on your investment which is your time and energy. Also when you read what other people are doing your learning so learn from others mistakes and once you have a nice solid base going you will than be at the point where you can start to make websites, ebooks, products, and turn that into easier cash but remember it is not easy never is and never will be.

Best of luck to you fellow Warriors!

I started my work at home venture as a customer service agent for various companies. I found out that I could write for a living and I ran with it. Writing has always been my passion. I love words, I love the way that you can manipulate them to mean so many different things. I am now in my 5th year of writing for a living. I am looking to expand my horizons to PLR, ebooks and reports. I also have a couple of novellas I've been working on for myself.
