Membership Site Question ( Wordpress )

Could someone be kind enough to give me some advice please.

I,am setting up a membership site which will be a private members forum.
I ,am also thinking about having a blog set up for the members.

My question is how do i have the blog so that only members can view it?

Also do you think it is a good idea to have the blog private or should
i have my blog for everyone to view.

Kind Regards

Public or Private really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Private is better because it is a value add for your users. Public is better if you're trying to get some SEO and direct link traffic. Ewen Chia take the best of both by saying his blog is private, but a quick search on google will find it. ;^)

As far as making your blog private, use a membership software like Amember or just simple .htaccess file to protect your folders.

I have a membership website (WordPress blog) that
has private posts, a private forum, etc. that is only
available to paying members. And there is a public
side to the blog as well.

(The public side is GREAT to have for SEO and to
drive more traffic to your site which = more paying
      members.)

If you are not very tech savvy, I would suggest
hiring someone to do it for you. You'll save
yourself weeks of frustration and a few holes
in the wall, a broken computer, and 31,294
      grey hairs.

The system I use for it is Amember.

I hired a great programmer to put everything
together for me and it was a HEADACHE. It's
not easy to do... I spent a little time trying to
figure it out and quickly realized I needed
      expert help and hired someone.

Due to the lack of quality documentation on
how to do it, even my programmer struggled
and had to figure out most of it in the dark.

I can tell you that I will not be going that
      route again for awhile.

I hope you take a look at my site in that case- I think I could've saved your tech guy a lot of work!

Wait, so if your blog is private it won't help for SEO??

          That sucks!!

So to get the best of both worlds, all you need to do is tell your prospects and customers a blatant lie.
