My California Buyers Pay 8.5% Sales Tax - When did this start?

Is this something new?

I've sold items before using WSO Pro but I've never seen this.

Maybe I've never had Ca buyers...until now?

Anyhow, my current California buyers are all paying 8.5% Sales Tax - on top of the sales price and it's showing up in their paypal receipt.

Is this new? If so, does anyone know when it started?

Also, I wonder if it's Paypal or the vendor (WSO pro) that's initiating payment of California sales tax.

    Should be a vendor thing. I doubt paypal wantst to collect tax if they don't have to.

    It's almost certainly PayPal, and probably based on this setting in your account:

      Nope, my boxes were not checked for that option.

      But it's a heck of a page to be aware of.

    Paypal has a physical presense in California and Governer Moonbeam is doing everything he can to destroy California Business.

    The laws they are putting on the books are very anti-internet as they try to grab every last penny and business flees to more Business Friendly States.

    I read an entire Analysis based on Amazon and California's money grab and it looks like California will actually collect LESS tax as a result of their actions.
