How am I being added to your list?

I've been doing lots of ad swaps lately and there is an ongoing problem that occurs.

Random list builders just start sending me emails like I'm on their list. They are sending the emails to the address that I ONLY use as a from address from my main autoresponder.

I have never opted in with that address ever anywhere. But, I seem to get about 5-10 follow up emails a day from random people trying to sell me things like I just signed up to their list.

The thing that kills me even more is when I unsubscribe and click the spam button, they still get emails to me some how the next day.

IF YOU ARE DOING THIS TO MAKE MONEY, STOP!

I think I might make a column on my blog's sidebar calling out anyone who I've found to do this.

Definitely interesting. Can't say i have experienced it before, but if you find out how it is happening please let everyone here know. Thanks

It might be that you are being added to a list a second time. That is why the spammers get you again the very next day.

I realized a few months ago that "people" were signing up on my squeeze page and then once they got my email address from my autoresponder they'd spam me. Kind of backwards huh? They sign-up to get emails from me so they can spam me. But it's probably pretty easy for bots to search the net for email sign-up forms so I guess I put myself out there! Oh well...spammers will always be there. I'm not going to pull all my email sign-up forms just to stop them.

You can't run away from a couple of spam emails coming in when you are actively going around doing adswaps (or any list building for the better)

It can be bots as someone mentioned, it can be some noobs in your mailing list who is spamming you to take notice of their product, it can be some twits who you adswapped with who sold your contact info to shady people (or even sold the list at flippa!) and many more.

Basic idea: Take a deep breath, press spam, and move on with your life if there is no unsub button at the bottom. It might come in again- but when it does, just press the spam button again until the message stop appearing in your inbox. Well, that's what I do.
