Becoming an Amazon (or CPA) affiliate... asks me for my website?? I dont know what promote still?

Beware, newbie at large on ther forums !!

Ok, so I am at the point of no return. Ready to take action. I will dominate the IM world by the end of 2012.

But until then, I dont get this. I want to sign up for affiliate at Amazon and some CPA networks, but they ask for my website.

For example, Amazon asks the following when signing up;

What is the name of your website?
What is the URL of the website(s) you will use to send traffic to Amazon?
What is your website(s) about?
Which of the following topics best describes the topic of your website(s)?
How do you drive traffic to your website(s)?
How else do you monetize your website(s)?
How do you usually build links?
How many unique visitors does your website(s) get per month?

etc...

The answer is quite simple, to all the questions.

"I dont know!!"

And why the one website, if all-in-all I'll be building dozens of them?

heeeeelp !! :p

Pause and think about the situation from their point of view. They need to see you as a professional, and under normal circumstances, professionals have their own websites. In their eyes, without this very basic expectation, you are a raw amateur without any knowledge or experience.

Is this really so far from the truth?

My suggestion is: buy a domain in your name, or a name which illustrates your web ambitions, and set up a website which describes your internet marketing aspirations. Use a Wordpress blog; it doesn't require any expenditure over and above purchase of a URL and web hosting.

This will then provide you with a website you can enter when applying for an Amazon account. I would suggest holding off for a little while until you move on with any CPA applications.

Yes they require a website in order to sign up but the truth is they are not at all fussy just as long as you have a website and as Annie said even a personal blog will do fine.

You could also just spend some time reading about Amazon and product research or if you are really into something for example your a model train enthusiast you might want to start your first site on something that you know a lot about or have a real interest in.

Just take your time and start learning and once your ready to sign up to with Amazon they will be right there waiting.

    Kickin it on Amazon

Oh ok... so basically its the exact reverse of, say, clickbank, where you join, browse for a niche, get an affiliate link and THEN go on to buy a domain and promote it.

Makes perfect sense. I have a couple of hobbies I can easily write/review about, and get products up there to promote. Its just that it seems weird to first build a webpage specifically to get into the program.

One thing this is to buy a domain myfavoritehobby(dot)com , instead of a long tailed niche targeted EDM for promotion sake.

But what about CPA offers? How can one have a website before joining a network?

To dominate the IM world by the end of 2012 you'll probably end up with a lot more than just a single website. (You sound like a 10X disciple!)

Go with the flow and build a site to get your foot in the door, so to speak. Consider it your resume or calling card. It doesn't have to be the one you end up using with the programs, but it can be.

BTW, this is a great place to start your march toward domination. You'll find help and answers to your questions here. Good luck!

        Peace
