I'm Giving Away An iPod... [MOD EDIT: But not to you]

I have in iPod touch that I want to give away. I also have a brand new ecommerce website which I want to promote...

I was thinking about setting up a contest where we will give the ipod away to someone who A. Facebook likes us and B. Google +1's us. I figure it's a good way to spread the word & maybe get an seo bump. I'd be promoting this through my mailing lists.

Just wondering if anyone out there thinks that there is a better way to make use of an iPod giveaway... :confused:

    There are some free brand new apps for wordpress like punchtab, Google it.. its a free contest running app i think. Also to go a step further contest burner is very popular and works wonders for running contests and promotions. Contest burner is from Bill Mcintosh and its continuously updated...

      Thanks for the info about PunchTab. I looked into a couple of others but they aren't free. ContestBurner and Wildfire.es

      I'm intending to run some contests for a few of my websites as well as some of my clients' websites.

    I hope you have built up trust with those on your mailing list. Just by the title of this thread I was thinking scam. I see several Apple product contests daily as junk email or vibrating banners. I think those type of contests are so overly used it might make your site seem shady despite it's legitimacy.

      lol I was thinking the same exact thing. My emails for the contest will not be as generic haha

      I went to the contest burner page and couldnt find anything but praise for what it does... I couldn't actually find out what it specifically does... Gotta pass on that.

    I run my contests on my blog like that. The mandatory entry is always an action that will help me connect with potential new customers and will also spread the word about my website. If it would be beneficial to you to have more FB likes and Google 1+s then that is a perfect contest! If you have something you'd rather have them do that would be more beneficial to you, then go that route.

    Also, consider how to promote this. If you are going to do heavy promotions and get a lot of traffic, it might be best to grab their email addresses as a required way to enter as well (but maybe that's already part of your strategy!)

You can select all the entry methods you want to include, and whether or not they are mandatory. When it's over, it will randomly pick the winner for you.
