That would do it! However, you'll reach that $100 threshold very quickly, and then you'll be out of luck The bad thing about PPC (aside from the expense) is that the benefits of it stop as soon as you stop paying the bills. If you plan on doing some temporary PPC (while you work on your SEO and find other ways to drive traffic), it can help you.

If you don't want to go the PPC route, you could always do some guest posting. There are tons of bloggers out there (especially in a niche like pet goods and services) that accept guest posts. It's free to post, and all you have to do is write something that impresses readers and encourages them to click on your link and see what your site is all about. Even if you pay a writer to create the guest posts for you, it will still be cheaper than PPC - and it can fetch you traffic as soon as you get something published.

And, unlike PPC, a guest post will be around *forever*. Someone could stumble upon it 6 months or a year from now and visit your site as a result.

Start a thread asking for help with your site on Warrior Forum. I know, its an IM forum, but I bet there are plenty of pet lovers there!

I second guest posting. I built a new site recently and wrote a few articles specifically for guesting posting. I decided to contact some bloggers to see if they would accept a guest article and now I have a couple of articles that will be published on blogs with a great audience.

Try driving traffic with Facebook PPC.

Drive people to a fan page and them drive them to the site of your choice.

I usually set up 10 different ads (10 diff pics..same body) with the same target to get the best CPC.

    how about using Stumbleupon.com

I use them sometimes to jumpstart a new site because the cost is peanuts (like .01 to .05 per click!!)

also make a short video (just anything semi decent) and promote it on Youtube using their promotional tool. This also is very, very cheap (pennies per click!!)

I'm no expert, but my common sense tells me that when Google sees your site getting hits from totally different users (all with different ISP's) that you're legit and should help your SEO.

.........and you may make some sales from those clicks!

    hope this helps!

I don't know if this is relevant, but the first thing I noticed is your website says 'Deals 4 Pets' all over it, but you URL is 'dealsforpets' - could this be causing people to not find you?

    EXCELLENT CATCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

before paying for any traffic you need to get your SEO straightened out! download the free version of TrafficTravis.com

use the Analyze website feature and it will suggest all the things you need to change to optimize your site. I already tried it for keywords 'deals for pets' and 'deals 4 pets' and both scored a "D" and there were a TON of easy suggestions to make your site much more Google friendly.
focus on this first, then go after paying for some traffic with my suggestions in above post. it's critical to have good SEO for your site first.

    • I have to laugh when I see the "use a $100 AdWords voucher" advice.

Guess what your competitors are doing. Yup, they've got vouchers, too!

So nobody's paying cash, at least for a little while, but you're driving up the bids. Keywords that used to go for 20 cents are now $1.60. Or $3.00. Bye-bye sweet voucher!

I'd sure hate to be the sucker who comes in and thinks he has to pay that much for clicks because voucher users have run up the price.

One route would probably be by visiting forums related to your site, so obviously pet forums. Just become an active contributing member to the forums and have a link to your site in your signature. Don't spam, but help out and provide value. Niche forums can provide good targeted traffic.

Great tip, once people see you can provide something of value they will be much more inclined to visit your site. It can take a while to build up but once it does it's worth it.

immediate was is one of the PPC traffic option available like Google adwords, Facebook PPC (to fan page), you can even try Amazon.com product ads where they offer $75 coupon to try it out.

    Google adwords coupon - $100
    Amazon coupon -$75
    Facebook coupon - $50

So you can get and try free laser targetted traffic worth $225

It is amazing how much useless advice this thread received. fluffythe wondercat covered the pitfalls of vouchers, blog comments are useless (they drive no significant traffic since everyone is doing it), amazon product ads are crap. No real advice.

Try this list of shopping engines: searchmarketinglab.com/search-engine-optimization/53-products-list

You will be lucky if one of them works for you and even if it does do not expect to receive more than 5 clicks a day. I tried most of them and found one that works for me. But nothing crazy.Facebook ads drives traffic to me too but it costs $50 per conversion.

Also, try submitting your idea to coolbusinessideas.com

SEO is also overrated. Everyone claims they can get to the first page. I have not seen anyone offering solid advice on how to do that and I actually got on the 2nd position on google and received something like 10 clicks a day. useless.

    Infomaniacs....

If you want to get traffic to your site quickly, Google really loves YouTube videos so let me suggest a 2 point plan of attack:

    1) Use a keyword tool like the Google Adwords Keyword Tool and look at the phrases related to your niche/industry. I would look at exact matches and for now just focus on those exact phrases whose competition bar levels show anywhere from 1/4 to 3/4 full (I know it's very simplified but I don't want to go into the more detailed version of full keyword analysis.) Pinpoint 2-3 of these phrases that show decent volume (1,000+ monthly) with low competition bars

    2) Create quick youtube videos using very inexpensive tools like Jing or Screencast-O-Matic for each of these phrases. Make your title and tags for your YouTube videos match each keyword phrase. Use software like PowerPoint to create slides while recording your voice over the slides using a usb microphone. Promote the site throughout the video using a lower caption with the site address. Jazz up the slides with graphics too!

I know I didn't hit all of the details with this plan but hopefully, you get the idea! You should see decent rankings for at least 1 of your videos for your pinpointed keyword phrases which will get you a nice boost of traffic.
