Do not use Google Search Traffic as your only source of income !!

I have learned about this the hard way in the last 2 weeks. Google has implemented some algo changes and a lot of people are suffering including myself. All my Blogs earnings have completely dried up almost overnight
I have only myself to blame !!

As many of the older and more wiser Warriors have said over and over and over again that you need to diverse with different avenues of income with IM. I totally agree and learned the hard way that this is so true !!

BOTTOM LINE : If you want long term success in this business PLEASE,PLEASE do not rely ONLY on Google search engine traffic. You will pay the price if you do !!

That's true but the main thing is...

Value. If you provide value through your content, you will have to worry a little about Google slamming you or something. There are a whole lot of ways to get your content out for others to read.

This is a vital tip for every new and old marketer. Google is only one traffic source and if this is your only source you are missing out on a large amount of traffic. There are some that make a full time income without ever trying to gain ranking on google.

It's really just common sense for any business - online or offline. You never want to rely on just a single form of marketing.

Offline businesses will do yellow page listings, local newsletter and news paper ads, radio ads, etc...

Online businesses should be building the same level of diversification in their marketing for sure.

Yeah but they could quadruple their earnings if they were targeting google the correct way. I agree that its not the only way but google is free traffic, hard work, but well worth it.

    Yep, I agree with Troy.

It's not a "Google" thing, it's a "never rely on one thing" thing.

Also, I am one of those people who doesn't really use Google to derive ny significant portion of my income. I rarely check my site's rankings (maybe 2 or 3 times a year), and I don't try to get Google "love", "juice" or "power" (or whatever the terms are nowadays).

Now, does that mean I could be loving money on the table? Maybe. But it also means that I have never once had to worry about slaps or updates.

Sure, some of my traffic DOES come from Google, but I don't rely on it at all.

    Anyway...

    It's not a "Google thing".

    All the best,
    Michael

        Hi discrat,

Most people will simply jump to the conclusion that the solution to the problem of relying on Google for traffic is to diversify the sources, but it is not the best solution, in fact it's not a solution - just a minor improvement. You will just be diversifying your sources of uncontrolled, random, traffic.

The solution revolves around controlling, or owning the traffic.

Yes, this solution might involve paying for traffic, but I am not suggesting to simply 'pay for traffic' - such as PPC. It goes further than that.

To say any more would be to spoon-feed, which is ineffective. This tip is only helpful if the person seeking the solution goes on to work it out for themselves. The answers are are right in front of you.

Also, it might seem picky, but it's important to clarify this -

Do not use Google Search Traffic as your only source of income !!
Google is a source of traffic, not a source of income. The two are entirely seperate things. Failing to be absolutely clear about this is part of the problem too.
