How many WF Members AREN'T Targeting the IM Niche

It only feels easy because we are on WF which is full of IMers and IM products. I have way more luck with other niches both in sales and better refund rates.

I do dabble in the IM niche. I have a PLR store and a blog about affiliate marketing, but I make pennies with those compared to my niches outside of IM.

I've noticed higher refund rates in the IM niche, ESPECIALLY with Clickbank products, I believe it's due to the fact that IMers know how easy it is to get a refund on Clickbank etc.

I think most people starting in IM want to try and push their dream on others.

I know thats what I did, and to this day, I still don't know why other people didn't want to share my dream.

I'll definitely tackle the IM niche again, after I am earning a passive income in other niches, as at the end of the day, I want people to share my dream.

@Fin, That's good advice. Go for outside IM first and when you earn a respectable passive income, (first repeat to make more passive income) then come back to IM.

I made that mistake when I started. I've gone to IM first...BAD Mistake.

Here's the process I imagine most new IMers go through:

• Read and learn about IM
• Start an IM blog because you suddenly know a lot about it
• Forget why you started learning about IM
• Fail because you don't know anywhere near as much as all the established players
• Give up

Most non-IM blogs seem to emerge naturally, where the creator just had a good sense of community building, or already had real-world experience in marketing and business.

My main ClickBank product has nothing to do with IM. There is a whole world of niches out there, and tons of them are profitable. IM products are only one small slice of the larger pie.

I don't do anything in IM. I have no interest in marketing to marketers, and probably never will.

I have one website in the "IM" niche. More like a sub-niche of IM, but you get the idea.

For a majority of my sites, I promote women's high heels. I have a list in this niche and do quite well for myself. I will soon be building sites targeting Halloween costume keywords and banking hard next year with affiliate marketing.

I don't really have a desire to get into the IM niche outside of my keyword research gig I do every now and again. It's fun, but building a website, outsourcing the SEO and sitting back to watch the passive income pour in is much more exciting.

My main focus is way outside the IM niche, and yet (both my sigs) are IM related.

OK, I surrender, I'm all over the place!

Seriously though, I think it's hard NOT to share what you're learning from this forum as far as tools, resources, and training, as that is absolutely required for nearly any online business.

As far as my focus with anything IM related, I try to do my due diligence, and steer clear from all the hype, and 1-click crap out there, so if anything, my few sites that do focus on the IM niche are more over a 'push it forward' effort than that of any great financial reward. *At least not yet.

It almost seems impossible to avoid it, with PLR, domaining, hosting, writing articles, creating product, and all that is needed to run a successful business online. So, as long as it's ethical, I'll support and/or promote the IM products between building up my experience and other non-related niche sites.

My main focus is in the 'broad' health niche, and after 5 months of learning what doesn't work, I am finally drawing near to having this 'project' up and running, whereby, I know it will make great money.

Although I primarily work in the IM niche, I have worked and made money in 3 niches and continue to make money in some of them today. I started outside the IM niche because everyone told me to because they said it was too competitive and too hard to get into. Working outside the IM niche kind-of reinforces the fact that you know what you're doing, and it's not just a fluke, I think.

Regardless of the niche or whether the product is info or physical, my conversion rates and stuff have always been good, which I attribute to the fact that I'm a pretty good writer (have been told) and good at research and connecting with my audience. All the "big money" niches will have competition, but the process is the same.

I'm also in two niches out of IM niche.I tried it but just didn't get success although I didn't too much effort behind it.

I also avoid the IM niche. I figure way to many other people are already doing a much better job at it than I could.

I have two niches that I am currently involved in, which is more than enough to start with.

I'm in a niche outside of IM / MMO.

All of my niches are outside IM. Im about to get into IM but only specifically helping people make money in my niche (my affiliates)

For now I'm steering clear of the IM and MMO niches because while this niche does represent a segment of the population that is a "desperate buyer" I feel that for me right now there are plenty of other niches which have less competition.

I got some good advice once that you want to be a big fish in a small pond starting out and picking specific niches with desperate buyers and lower competition can help you succeed early on.

I do enjoy watching the awesome ad copy and marveling at the sales pages of a lot of the IM crowd though. I have to hide my wallet when I surf the MMO niche for sure, cuz some of those guys are pros for real and I'm looking to make money rather than spend it all at the moment. ;]

I target several niches outside of IM. I find it fun to explore niches you are not familiar with.

The IM niche, what is it about that niche that make me run away?

Over 90% -- maybe it's over 95% -- of the people who try to make money in the IM niche never make a penny. And of the others there has to be a large percentage who barely break even after expenses.

That means that if I sell something in the IM niche I will be instrumental in fleecing 90-95% of my customers out of their money.

My conscience will not allow me to do that. No, the IM market isn't for me.

Ill only go near the IM niche once I truly believe I've made it.

Then Ill feel completely confident and comfortable posting REAL earnings screenshots.

Dont be fooled into thinking only those in the IM niche are making money, thats just not the case.

Contrary to what you think the IM niche is hard, very hard. If you remember the prices of the WSOs in the past, they are just dropping because of all the competition.

Why go against marketers that know what they are doing when you can pick on some smaller niche and bank easier?

To me IM niche is harder and very competitive, this is because people who are just starting their own venture online needs to acquire knowledge and tools that they can use in order to start their online business. This means IM niche is always in demand.

It's only easy at first if you know that particular niche but when you try to rank and compete with the rest of veterans it becomes harder.

I am starting to market the IM niche a little, but it is not my main focus.

I have never attempted to market to Internet Marketers or IM wannabes & I don't think I ever will...

But things can always change

I have some sites in the IM niche and some out of the IM niche. I would have to say my biggest income website is one that is not in the IM niche. It's in a very 'big' niche still, but not IM.

I'm not in IM per se but we do offer services to IM people as well as small-medium businesses.

Other than that, we work in two-three others niches and make good money. It almost equals what we do via services. :-)

I use a pretty much opposite niche

some of my most profitable niches are outside the im niche, I love selling and creating products outside of this niche a whole lot better. But the IM niche is also a good niche to sell and make money in, but I think it's also importnat to learn from people who make money in other niches too.

If they can only sell in the IM niche they must not be very skilled because anyone can sell in this niche, it's the easiest niche to sell in, in my opinion and that is coming from someone with products in over 50 niches

I targeted the IM niche in the past, unfortunately the competition is huge. You have to do something awesome to stand out from the crowd.

I do a little of both.

I think if you have success outside of the IM niche you are qualified to teach others how to do what you did.

I don't try to target the IM niche in my opinion its getting to saturated. I try to target the health niches because there are endless sub-niches within it.
