Suggestion for Niche Affiliate Website

Hi Warriors!!!

I'm looking to setup my affiliate niche website very shortly and I need some suggestions about it. I want to save my hosting fee that's why I wanted to use my custom domain on Blogspot. Do you think it's a good idea?

If I setup my custom domain, Should I be able to use Google Adsense, contextual advertising, affiliate links and so on?

I want to create a attractive site with some attractive theme so Can I use a wordpress theme on my custom domain? As wordpress provides number of user friendly plugins for every requirements. If I can't use wordpress theme, What are the other ways to get some amazing themes which I can use on Blogspot?

Thanks for your precious time.

    .
For affiliate marketing, Blogspot is a terrible idea. You could spend countless hours setting up a website on Blogspot, only to try to log on one morning and it's gone.

    a) Blogspot can turn your blog off at a whim for any reason, especially if they discover its commercial intent.

    b) Other Blogspot bloggers can report you with the same result. Blog gone!

Blogspot does allow you to run Adsense, but you have to share the revenue with them. This depleats your earning power immediately.

I strongly advise you to set up your own, self-hosted Wordpress.org blog. This immediately places your web marketing destiny in your own hands. Failing that, go with Weebly, which is free. But nothing beats self sufficiency.

@AnniePot!! Thanks for your precious time. So as per your knowledge "Weebly" doesn't shut down my site even though they notice it's for commercial purpose??

No; I'm afraid it's a really dreadful idea, that has produced understandable, predictable, avoidable disasters for huge numbers of marketers.

All you need to do, to see why, is to read this thread really carefully.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with free hosting, per se (though some care's required with it); but there's almost everything wrong - for a niche affiliate website - with free hosting at Blogspot.

There's a list of "better free places to use" (both with and without self-hosted Wordpress) in the thread linked to above.

Well, I really enjoyed reading that discussion link you mentioned above, but I basically want niche affiliate site but "byethost.com" won't let me to add affiliate links so I don't think it's suitable for me. Really appreciate your help.

As others have suggested, you're better off looking for hosting. Most people use hostgator. I use hostmonster and I have never had any issues with them. I don't know your level of experience in internet marketing, but paying for hosting and actually hosting the site will also increase your confidence in your IM skills

Unless you really don't have a method of payment to pay for the hosting and your own domain, only then you might go for free hosting and a subdomain.

But NEVER EVER use blogspot for a niche blog. I once read on one of blogspot manual reviewers blog that "a bunch of criminals called affiliate marketers" or something like that, but I am certain about the "criminal" word. This is the kind of mentality they have while deciding to wipe out your hard work.

The reason you should give the priority for the paid hosting is that if the site doesn't do well enough you can sell it on flippa or digital point and turn your loss into immediate profit.

Setting your business up in a way that would let somebody other than you make teh decision as to whether you can have a business or not does not sound like a good long term strategy.

From time to time, you hear people say that they have made a very successful business using Blogger, but the truth is these days, you hear that less and less.

Getting your own hosting is really the best idea if you can afford it.
