I do it by just being active in my niche, opting in to all my "competitors" lists reading their blog posts, hanging out in forums, then I just address my opinion on whatever problems I see people are having or are looking for.

That's a great tip there. Being active is important. We need to be updated with info and know whatever is going on. Being active, is the best way to do this. Reading blog posts, opting-in and hanging out in forums is a great technique.

I do this as well. You can also use magazines and books as a few have already mentioned.

It think another one is to check around for Q&A on your niche topics. This can lead to product creation if you are into that. It can still give you topics to post on.

Short answer: get over it. Start reading books. :-)

If you're an Internet marketer, you should be reading Seth Godin's books, and his blog, for starters.

To create fresh content consistently, you must be active. You need to become an expert in your topic.

Starting out as a beginner is fine. Just write about your experiences, as a beginner.

If you're taking action, you won't be a beginner for long, and if you keep taking action, you'll become an expert eventually -- as long as you read the experts.

You need to read the experts, to fuel your own insights.

I can't imagine working in any area, without reading... And there's no way to become an expert in an area without knowing what the top thinkers in an area are doing and thinking.

If you're serious about IM, read books.

  I'm creating content for 4 blogs, several articles, youtube videos and ongoing infoproduct development each and every day...
  
  Some tips I use:
  
  1. Surveys and polls built into every blog and website page - collecting questions, comments, etc... from your visitors gives you tons of ideas for content
  
  2. Social networking - I now find lots of great content ideas on Twitter, Facebook as well as forums related to my niche markets
  
  3. Google News - I have pre-set searches delivered each day on new news around my different niches, these give me ideas for content or sometimes are worthy of directly relaying to my market
  
  4. My blogs - if you really try to engage your blog readers in conversation, they will not only create a ton of content for you (by making comments), but they will also give you ideas as they generate their content
  
  5. Multi-purpose your content. I like to leverage things like a 20-minute telephone interview, transcribed turns into a small report or longer article, which can then be referred to by a blog, spawn an idea for a press release and be posted about on social networking - that is ALL content.

Hating books isn't a good thing to do. Books are man's greatest teacher. It has a hell lot of patience and gives you some pretty cool advice.

Reading sometime doesn't hurt. It's the easiest way to learn.

If you're too lazy to do something as simple as reading, then what else can you do? I hope you get what I mean.

I'm a real book lover myself, so I have no problem reading. If you hate the act of flipping pages and reading written words, I suggest you get an audio book. You can play it while going for a morning jog, driving to the dry cleaners or whenever there's a lull in your day.

I was actually going to come on here and ask the same question.

I know that article writing is very important and that happens to be my weak spot.

I realized fter reading the post in this thread that I have een learning and am starting to get a few more ideas on writing and now i realize itis due to my reading more about my niche.

This isn't the most original idea in the world, but get Google alerts related to your niche. This can suggest some new ideas for topics that haven't been circulating for years already. For example, anything related to health/fitness/nutrition, you can get information on new studies, treatments, etc. Of course, then you still have to create the content!

I frequently interact with prospects and customers in
my market to find out what their problems are and the
solutions they're looking for.

This interactivity provides a pretty good stream of ideas
and I note my article ideas in a Notepad file too.

Here's a useful tip on how to NEVER have a 'blank' moment...

After writing for a while, you'll find that there are times
when you're on a roll and ideas come freely. Instead of
just writing one article that day, write a couple and
store the spare ones for later.

Then when you're struggling for ideas, dip into the spare
reserve to save the day.

There are two places I go if I'm struggling for content.

1. Niche forums. I already post in these forums for traffic and I'm seeing a lot of the same questions time after time. If people are asking these questions, it means they want answers so you have a great blog post idea right there.

2. Yahoo Answers. Same thing, people asking questions. The key is to find out what people want to know and tell them.

Reading books and blogs does help a lot and I am always sure to do that and I get a lot of inspiration from it, but by finding out what people want to know you can be sure you are giving your readers what they want.

Read everything you can-books,blogs,newspapers etc

If I get really stuck I sometimes unchain myself from the keyboard and go for a long walk or just do something else. Ideas soon start to flow again!

I see many people having a BIG focus on content. While this is true, some things need to be said:

Your site/blog does not need content on a daily base, you dont need to flood a website with dozens, if not hundreds per articles per week "to rank in google".

I see many people seriously thinking like that, but i simply cannot confirm this. If your site gets, say, one GOOD article each week..this is already pretty good as long as there is constant something going on the site.

QUALITY over QUANTITY!

Some niches simply don't yield dozens or hundreds of articles - how should that work? I can have a site about yeast infection or hair removal or whatever niche...at some point the articles REALLY can get redundant

Please also know that sites with only "some pages" can rank well in Google. You can have a site with 10 sub pages..and NOT need a constant update on content, depending on niche and what site it is, of course.

So..get away from the idea you need to "force" a zillion of articles on your site...especially if there is a danger that the quality of the content could suffer. Then rather less articles, but better ones.

You can't give out if you are not taking in. But don't limit yourself to just your own
field. Read and observe from other fields because you would get lessons that you
can apply to your niche.

And remember that old things can be presented in a new way. There's really nothing
new under the sun. You'll be surprised on the "new" ideas you can get from old

I do a little bit of all the suggestions above, I write some, I hire ghostwriters and I sen some dictated articles to ODesk to be transcribed.

It is not easy to create good quality content on a regular basis, so these methods work great for me.

When you've got 100 or so posts under your belt, you may want to consider using a WordPress plugin called Old Post Promoter.

All it does is one little thing: It changes the date on one of your posts to today.

Configurable, of course, as to how often you want one of your old posts dusted off and so forth. But it takes the pressure off you so you have the time to write your best stuff. Plus it gives you a chance to revise and update that old article.

No, because the post isn't actually posted again. Only the date is changed. That makes it appear as if it were the most recent post.

Here's the other thing that keeps my blog fresh: I write mostly about people. I'm never short on ideas.

That's something you can do to juice up your writing: tell anecdotes about people. Got a friend who tried IM but just can't get the hang of it? Tell his story and make him someone people can relate to. Don't fake it, though.

Another idea is to create a mindmap from a brainstorming session. I recommend mindmeister or mindjet. Have the topic of your blog as your central idea and create new main topics on that central topic. Just create a main topic as it comes to mind. Then make subtopics on each main topic. Go out and get inspiration from blogs and ebooks and classify all your ideas into the subtopics. This should supply you with inspiration for blog posts for quite a while to come.

Go to the high traffic forums in your niche. They are killer...its people helping others with the same interest. Just like this forum. I would say its the best way to learn and get fresh ideas for content each and every week.

Don't overlook your local library! Yeah, I know people treat it like a public wifi place but there's so many good resources there.

You will find not only great books but many times great audios from various CD and library databases..

A great hidden gem that people overlook is the newspaper section. There, you will find some of the major newspapers from across the country and sometimes around the world! The major newspapers tend to have great articles focusing on interviews with major players in almost every field you can imagine. So be sure to utilize the newspaper search as well!

There you go. Great answer buddy. One thing most of us today forget is the offline world. We seem to get caught up into the online world we also forget that there are tons of ideas around us. In my experience people who don't read can not write well.

Studies have shown time and time again that the most successful writers are also voracious readers - this is how they have learnt what works and what doesn't. Most of us don't spend hours learning the rules of grammar by heart (which is why learning a second language is so hard to do that way), we learn them by reading what others have written. Over and over.

Presumably you want other people to read your articles - and yet you don't like reading yourself? Heh.

Thinking of what to write about has never really been an issue. I am interested in a lot of subjects so helpfully have a lot of things I read about and learn about. I like to jump from one thing to another too, I guess I have a short attention span or something.

When I get a block whilst writing an article I just close that for now, and write about something else for a while. Or go play something REALLY loud on my sax, that helps :-) (oh, and chocolate helps too, but any woman will tell you that, it helps everything)

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but in addition to reading books, other articles on the Internet, etc, sometimes finding and engaging in conversation through forums (such as this particular thread) can spark a topic that you can then expand upon. If you comment on blogs, or answer questions in Yahoo! Answers, figure out a way to expand on your answer and turn that into an article or post.

Another important thing I do when I feel like I've hit a wall... take a break! Walk away and do something else for a little while. Sometimes when you get back to it with a fresh mind and renewed energy, the ideas start pouring in.

Hey great answer there. Reading is definitely the most important thing to do. Yes, forums is a great source! I've gotten tons of amazing ideas when I started this thread. A lot of amazing people shared tons of ideas and methods on how to come up with new content.

Yes, we all deserve breaks every once in a while. I do agree with what you've mentioned.

There are 3 key places I go to for article ideas
1) Google Alerts
Get emails and reports of where articles pop-up for keyworks you're interested in.

2) Google Reader
Bookmark your favorite writers and sift through everything on the commute to work.

3) Public Library
I usually look up the books on Amazon or my local bookstore, call into my library and get them to hold it from me.
There's a wealth of information online, some of the best content is often available in print format only.

I recommend learning to speed read as well.
There's a lot of junk out there and a little quality content.
To sift through it all is a skill in itself.

I think you have to have a foundation of curiosity and authentic interest in the world. Read books, magazines, talk to people, etc. I go to a lot of garage sales just to get out of the house. People tell me the most interesting, curious things. For instance, I met a woman at her garage sale who for years has been buying and selling African Violets. There is an entire world out there of African Violet collectors. Talk about an untapped niche!!!!

The easiest way to create fresh content is to supply a need. If you see a number of people looking for answers on a certain subject, you should create content that gives them all the answers they need.

This is essentially what takes place on the Warrior Forum, which is why it's always filled with new content.

"Where can you find people who need answers?" Forums, Blogs, Yahoo! Answers, etc.

ok, the best ideas for the new content creation is to join more forums and more blog communities.YOu know we will check different topics everyday in the forums.so it would be a new idea for you if you read more new forum posts and join more blog communities to get some new ideas.

Yes, that's a great strategy. Sometimes simple keywords can give us an idea for a whole post or article. Thanks for sharing this. There's one good plugin I use that's great for wordpress bloggers. It's called Lj Long Tail Seo. It's a plugin that updates and shows keywords on how people came to your site and what article they ended up on. Great plugin for interlinking as well.

Outsource. Fiverr is a good place but I have found great and cheap writers at elance itself.

you can also go on amazon and search for books in your niche...

usually there is a section called look inside and here you can see the table of contents of the book as well as certain parts of the book....

you can read 2 to 3 chapters of more somtimes...

I get my ideas from all over. Discussions with people of what they are having troubles with, facebook, forums.

If there is a problem, it is being discussed and if I have a solution, I write about it.

1. I am affiliate marketer and I read every newsletter my affiliate company sends me (clickbank has one that is often interesting) - It can generate ideas. I may not be ready to write about it, so I make a quick draft post in WP so I can handle it later.

2. I use google alerts - I have the feed in my igoogle portal (rss reader) and when I open my computer every day there is new info in the subjects I am interested in. I can star the important ones or build a quick draft post in wp and have it there when I can't think of anything to write

Everywhere...life...past experiences...books...and even tv.

For example with TV I recently wrote an article "What The Sons Of Anarchy Teach Us About Internet Marketing"

I also like to walk through the magazine rack when grocery shopping and see what the headlines are, what kind of mags are still out there...

I also like reading Bio's on those who have gone before us, learn about the history of when they were alive and how they succeeded in their life.

I listen to my kids and see what they are talking about, what they are watching, and what their friends are talking about...

One of the best places is to look through this forum and see what questions are being asked, then if you are in a marketing niche solve those problems in articles. or video...or ???

I think John came out with a new product which is free for now called jiffy articles , it is to designed to break writers block...still in beta testing so he is allowing people to use it for free...if you want my affiliate link let me know

But you can also go to Marketing Blogs - Power 150 - Advertising Age it is a listing of the most popular or spoken about blogs in the social media world. It is a great list to go through to see what others are writing about...

I look at competitor's sites, what they're writing about. I also ask my subscribers what they'd like to see more of.

I try and write my blog for my readers rather than for me if that makes sense. I'm always researching what are the latest trends in my industry and check which are my highest searches and write accordingly.

At the moment I'm trying to blog everyday so it's a challenge coming up with fresh quality content every day... luckily I haven't hit the wall yet!

My method for bringing new fresh creative ideas:
1) Ask yourself a question, what you want to do. It's like during brainstorming, but...
2) Forget about it for some time, go relax, play a game, watch a movie, etc...
3) Sometimes return to your question, just remind yourself about it.

Outsource your content. If you want to create a unique content you have to map and know what you want to talk about before creating a content/article. Even PLR's articles has good content but you just need to reword it (not spin it).

For me it's Top 10 Lists.

I'll run through a Top 10 list in my head - eg. for the life insurance niche "The Top 10 Weirdest Ways to Die", "Top 10 Most Bizarre Coffins", etc.

Sometimes I Google "Top 10" "keyword/topic" and I can always find something that jumps out and kicks my evil muse in the behind

And when all else fails I use Random Word Generators to get a weird/whacky starting point eg. I just used Random Word Generator (Plus) and got the word "Abstract". If my niche is party themes I would then write a piece like "5 Abstract Themes for Your Party".

Thanks for your answer. Yes, writing content that involves lists or bullet points are pretty easy to do. Most of my content that was actually a HIT which means tons of shares, comments and likes, are content that involves lists and bullet points. It's easy to create and read. Pretty cool strategy.

I read tons of books, reports (you can really find golden nuggets on little reports), and I set several alerts on Google Alerts for my main keywords.

The secret is to read and article, if you really like then write about the same topic but with you own words. Never read more than once a post, just get the essentials and write about it, I figure I will explain the content to my daughter and she knows nothing about it.

Once again, reading is the important ingredient here. It's our responsibility to feed ourselves with new information and grow as an individual. Reading articles and blog posts is a great way for content. Very important we write it in our own words tho.

Well, I read PLR material to get ideas on what to write. I am not talking here about rewriting the PLR material. i simply use it to get ideas on what to write. Since there are tons of PLR on various niches, it can be helpful

There are three ways I come up with really good content ideas:

Related Niche Forums - Great for seeing what people in your market are actually talking about...Usually a single thread has several content ideas.

Keyword Optimizer Pro - It's a free little tool that's in beta right now that scrapes Google related searches. I'm not affiliated with it, but I do use it frequently for new, longtail content ideas.

The Bible - This one might have some people scratching their heads, but believe it or not I always find myself with lots of new ideas after a good Bible readin'. Great piece of literature (and life guidance, but we don't talk about that here).

I'm just going to chime in with what some of the others have said: read and research your niche. If you read forums, you'll find out what people are asking and can develop content that relates to the solutions. Stay abreast of current events, especially any studies or scientific reports that come out on your niche.

I created a method I teach a lot to my mastermind students called the..

"L.I.T. Formula - Ignite Your Business (TM)"

Learn - find content and consume information
Implement - take action and implement what you learn
Teach - take all data and experience from your implementation and teach others

it's not so much finding the content that is so important but what you do with it after you find something cool..

There are 2 kinds of experts..

Result makers - Expert by taking action and seeing results
Reporters - Interview other experts on the topic therefore becoming the expert themselves on the topic

This is the core of Information Marketing..

No matter how find the information as long you
follow the LIT formula you will become the expert

I like reading, surfing forums and blogs.

All the book stores in my area are closing down, but I liked to go to the magazine section and look at books on particular niches. The featured articles are great and looking at the classified ads in the back of magazines sparks good ideas as well.

There are several methods I have bookmarked for easy access...

1. Alltop - Alltop, all the top stories

2. Regator - Regator - Curated Blog Search and Discovery

Both of these are curated blog directories

3. Yahoo Answers

4. Google Keywords Tool

5. Google Insights (my newest favorite)

6. Amazon - I search out books within the topic I am wanting to write about and explore the "Search inside this book" for sample pages they have available for viewing. Many times I find inspiration in the index alone. I also find it helpful to check out the comments left by customers.

7. Niche forums

8. Google Reader - I have mine organized by my own niches to make it easier to stay focused.

I think I will agree completely with Nathan2525 on this. Several people expressed this in their replies, but I think he expressed it best. We all would have to take the time to read, both offline and online, take notes, and put them together in our own words. Do this along with some of your own personal experiences. I think the ideas for your content will be spread out over several days. I think we all have to learn to keep a pen and some sort of paper handy to make a quick note when an idea hits. This is the approach I am trying to take as well. I don't think you can rush it and do it well.

Maybe this helps in some way.
