How NOT to get help from Internet marketers

Here's a nifty topic - what's the best way to encourage people NOT to help you?

Here's two of mine I just experienced.

One was an individual who asked for help with a 'disk-full' error. So I helped out, asked more questions, was told the person was on a dedicated server and then was told, Oh, I'm joking, my situation is different, LOL.

Sorry friend, I don't *joke* when it comes to business. I spent time to help out when you deliberately gave me incorrect info.

What do you think the probability is that I'll help this person in the future?

And the other way to ensure I don't spend my time with you is to get a Skype request that says:

"Would love to take some affiliate marketing and CPA tips from you do add me."

Notice the word there, take.

No hint of, hey, let's see how we can both help one another.

Just, me me me me me me.

Sigh.

Anyone else have suggestions to share?

I have only had strange people adding me to Skype and I have absolutely NO IDEA who they are. I have never had a conversation or even seen them around in the forum. I just wish people would say "Hi my WF user name is XXXX". Then at least I would know who I was talking to

Sorry - you get ignored unless I know you

yeah, me too. That's one of the reason's I don't have my skype ID in my profile. If I offered "services" then maybe but I don't so if someone want to talk to me, they can send me a message here and then IF I WANT to continue with them....

I was in the background of that conversation and know what you mean. kidding and joking are fine but to ask for help, RECEIVE help from someone nice enough to give THEIR time, then claim.... "naw, I'm just kidding... i think lol" at the end is completely someone who is not serious about their business.

If I'm not mistaken, right after that, that person added a bunch of people to the channel when the rules clearly state NOT to do that... I'm sure the channel administrator will see it soon enough

Yup - I wasn't happy to find out I'd had 15 or so people added to my channel while asleep... Rules say - no adding - so I had to remove that person with the other 15 folks.

Didn't put a good taste in my mouth - Skype is a privilege not a right

I have three things that help me deal with such people...

    1. A thick skin and...

    2. A pretty good memory and...

    3. A strong belief in karma. ;-)

I don't give out my Skype details unless I know someone and I remain invisible unless I am going to talk to someone. I hate people that take, take, take. This world is GIVE and TAKE and people should do what they can to give as well, even if it's not as much as everyone has different abilities.

I would be happy with an offer of help in return, even if I didn't accept it. The gesture is sometimes enough.

I definitely agree. Everyone, no matter how smart, can always benefit from knowledge they still lack...and you never know when you yourself might hold that particular key that would really help someone out.

What goes around, comes around. I'm very happy to help out so long as it's reciprocal. That's the huge key there....

    Reciprocal?
If someone knows less than you why would you want information from them.

The RECIPROCAL is when you help them, they get to know you, trust you, and then eventually support you by buying your WSO or recommending your products to others.

I pass the help out, without expecting anything in return. Then when someone does help me, I'm happy.

I help myself before I ask for it.

I hate random people adding me on skype then sending me a copy and paste message about a service they offer... or tell me hey lets help each other out doing offline or something then after a day or two they try and push there offers on me...

Must admit that I don't really care any more. If people cannot take the time to build a relationship with me, then i am not interested.

If they do not respect my time or the fact that I am taking time out from my biz to help them... then I just don't care.

And don't PM me to discuss a potential JV which turns out to be a request to promote your products... then crack the ****s when I don't.
