Thank You Letters for Opt-Ins?

Hello Warriors,

I just wanted to get some opinions on my thank you letter that i've decided to send to my subscribers after they first subscribe through my squeeze page.... It doesnt seem typical of what i've seen but i think its more beneficial as it will result in me having a list of people who know exactly what i'm about......

Bear witness:

Thanks for signing up for this free report.
To be honest, this is a scripted message that is automatically
sent to everyone who signs up for my mailing list by accepting
this offer. I cant really spend the time to send everyone who
joins this list an individual email, what with my wife and 2
children, ages 1 1/2 and 1 month, so i figured I'd just lay
out what I've got going on this auto-email. Again, THANK YOU
for signing up to receive this free offer.

What I plan on doing is finding products that I believe will
interest and assist you in your internet marketing endeavors
and forwarding those offers/deals directly to you.

If you are interested in more offers, both free and paid,
then please remain on my list. If not, then simply hit the
unsubscribe button at the bottom of this email, and you will
never hear from me again.

Either way, you can go to the download page here:
The link is here..... not sure if i should show it here....

I'll be in touch soon with more great info, if you're still
subscribed.....

Thanks Again,
Joshua

    1) You don't want to tell your subscribers that your message to them is scripted and that you have no time to send an individual email to them. You want them to have a personal relationship with you and feel special.

    2) You don't need to remind them of the unsubscribe option.

(I'd make it more personal. Like:

Great to have you on board!

As I don't want to waste your time, download your report here...

The reason is that you want to get to the point quickly. You don't want to beat around the bush. Give them what they asked for straight away. And even add it to your email as an attachment.)

(Your paragraphs are way too long. You need to work on that. Increasing readability.

I do like the fact that you talk about your personal life. But I'd leave the automated message thing out. It doesn't add a lot of value. And to some, it may seem as if you are wasting their time with gibberish.

    Keep in mind:

People LOVE lurking into your life. But...

They don't really care about other stuff other then that what they opted in for.

You also don't need to thank them again. You can do that at the end of the email where it makes more sense)

What I plan on doing is finding products that I believe will
interest and assist you in your internet marketing endeavors
and forwarding those offers/deals directly to you.

(aka I'm going to promote stuff to you. Turn that around and say something like:

I'll be sending some valuable information, etc etc, bla bla. Please do keep in mind, if you click on my links, I may get compensated at times. (need to feed the wife and kids too)

If you do that, it'll act as a comic relief. You were honest... but you can get away with it because you've been cool about it. And people will just let it go)

If you are interested in more offers, both free and paid,
then please remain on my list. If not, then simply hit the
unsubscribe button at the bottom of this email, and you will
    never hear from me again.

(Again, just tell them that if they want your cool tips, they should definitely stay on the list. Don't try to scare them away completely. Too many stuff about paid here)

Either way, you can go to the download page here:
The link is here..... not sure if i should show it here....

(better 1 time too many. You may want to have it on a page where they can download it and view some related offer underneath the report. Even if it's an affiliate promotion. Just copy and paste the HTML of that page there. Add a cookie. Redirect it to their salesprocess. Making sure you still get paid)

I'll be in touch soon with more great info, if you're still
    subscribed.....

(3 dots is enough . And don't emphasize the still subscribed thing. 1 time in an email is enough. Again, your goal is not to scare them away. But rather to inform them what they can expect in the first email)

    Thanks Again,
    Joshua

I'd personally add a personal story. how did you get started? etc. And tell them more about what you can do for them. Something that's related to the story and what you can teach them.

I got a bunch more points. But I don't want to discourage you.

    I do hope this helps.

Yeah, I would skip the personal touch about your family. Although it is nice, people don't really care all that much. Also, are you going to edit the letter every month as your child won't always be 1 month old

As mentioned above, don't remind them about the unsubscribe button, you will get a higher rate of unsubscribers than loyal followers who think "aww that's nice he let me know I can unsubscribe".

This stuff aside, I commend your efforts to concentrate on the individual user rather than trying to squeeze money from them.

As long as you provide value to them and don't try to sell to them in every email, you will do fine.

Also try not to piss them off with too many emails

Nah... you can sell in every single email. As long as you are balancing everything. Balance is truly a keyword here.

I send emails every single day. And sell something in every single one of them.

The mention of a wife and kids can be used for selling for instance. But only in this first email. As I added in my comments, purely for comic relief. Nothing more and nothing less.

I have a personal story as my first email. And it works wonders for bonding with my subscribers.

It's just that honesty can only go that far. But if you have to, you need to give it a cool twist. And not be so obvious about it.

I do agree with the age thing. You can just say you got kids. It's enough. They don't need to know the age, etc. If you want to use it... you just need to mention it. And use it as a reason for sometimes selling something in your newsletter, as mentioned in my little critique.

The unsubscribe thing is simply too much. It's nearly sounding a bit desperate. I understand what you are trying to do here... but it's going to achieve the opposite.

Not bashing. But just adding 2 cents more.
