New webmasters tool message alert feature lets you know when your URL doesn't appear bc G sees it as a dupe URL on a different domain:

    To be honest after reading that I have more questions than answers about how that system worked.

    I did find this particularly Interesting.
    Quote "Webmasters can greatly influence our algorithms’ selections using one of the currently supported mechanisms to indicate the preferred URL"

    I think Google is doing a good job in punishing the websites having duplicate content. But sometimes the algorithm may mistakenly direct a URL which we don't want to. This new tool may help webmasters to reduce such incidences.

    Well worth to read. Thanks for sharing this. If this works well, it has the potential to catch some significant problems, and including it within webmaster controls was a great idea.
