Need some advice

I find it is best to attribute ownership to the images you find on the web. Attribute ownership to everything you take and give the people some linkbacks. Most people appreciate that.

Do not take stuff from sites that obviously say that their content is copyrighted.

Original content is king!

But if you are going to scrape from other sites. Attribute and link.

Have fun.

You may not copy anything that you find online unless it is explicitly stated on that particular site or image that you have the right to do so.

I understand this. The sites I have been browsing around on allow you to give credit to the photographer either by writing a credit on the image or linking back to them. Seems like it should be okay, I just do not want to make a mistake doing this and get burned.

  If your just trying to find images to display on your site you can use Google for plr images you could use for free or you could pay for the images using istockphotos.

Hi Nick,

You could check out Zemanta. It automatically suggests pictures, links, similar articles for your blog post, all from legal, attributable sources. And it also suggests your posts as related articles on other Zemanta user's blogs.

I only tried it on one article so far, but it found a perfect picture in Flicka to use. Works great with Wordpress.

Otherwise, I use free sources for pictures like Sxc.hu and you can also use articles from GoArticles and EzineArticles if you want more content.

Try flickr.com for images. youtube.com for videos

General rule of thumb is all image sharing (hosting) and video sharing (hosting) sites allow users to use those content with proper credit in form of links etc.

Hey, why go through all that? Here's a few websites that offer free photos. Most of these sites sell photo's as well but most have free photos.

Hope this helps. I use images in eBooks and this has a search box. It's my fav: Free Royalty Free Photos, Pictures, Images And Stock Photography

PS - Google images are not a smorgasbord of photos that anyone can use, however clicking advanced image, then entering your subject, then clicking the radio button that says Commercial use or modification will present images that you can use. Read the conditions for reuse.

Exactly. You can do what eWebCats mentioned.

Another way is simply google for "royalty Free"+what you need or PLR+... You can add "free" too.

This works for me.

Heaps of photos for free use available on Flickr Commons or Wikimedia Commons - that is where I go for most photos I don't want to pay for from somewhere like iStockPhoto. Most require attribution in the form of a credit link but some are in the public domain. Also, there is something called "fair use" - if you are using images solely for news reporting then this type of use could be deemed acceptable and not require permission. Though if you're ever in doubt getting permission is usually the best way to avoid trouble.

Some of the site to acquire free stock photos are:
morgueFile free photos for creatives by creatives & Photos blog

You won't have problems when you take images from those sites for your content.

Do not just take every image. Look for royalty-free images. If they catch you with illegal image on your blog, you can pay $20,000+ for legal fees and copyright infringement.

There are people with big goggles in front of the computer who look for illegal use of images on blogs and sites. :-) and I am not kiddin' that's just what they do for living.
