Have Spammers got inside Aweber?

Anyone else notice this?......

The e-mail address which I used for years ONLY to receive notifications from Aweber that someone has subscribed to a list has got into the hands of spammers.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I think it's more likely that the spammers auto-generated the address randomly than Aweber has been hacked, but it would be interesting to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Even auto-generating the address seems a little unlikely to me - but what other possibilities are there?

I hope that is not the case.

I want to say that the spammer got lucky and used an auto-generator to get your email address. But...I have heard about quite a few problems from Aweber lately.

Hopefully, everything will be worked out in time.

Actually, it's not farfetched to think it may have to do with Aweber. Their site has been compromised before.

I have not noticed any data compromises at AWeber
      recently.

I use unique e-mail addresses for most lists that I join
and am able to track if/when they get compromised
      and the list source.

However, subscriber data on AWeber servers have
been accessed by spammers on at least two occasions
      that I am aware of:

      In October 2010:

Email Subscriber Data Accessed; What We’re Doing About It (no affil.)

      And in December 2009:

How We’ve Addressed The Recent Data Compromise (no affil.)

Note that AWeber are not the only company to have
their data accessed either as I know that iContact
had their data hacked back in February 2010.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

Thanks for pointing this out to me.

I think I will let them know.
