Question : Is It Possible For Someone To Give An Unbiased Review If Their An Affiliate ?

Just getting some work done today and came across an interesting product I could use in my business, so I did a web-search but I couldn't find any reviews of the product that didn't come from affiliates. Thats what led me to wonder is it possible for someone that is an affiliate of a product to give an honest and unbiased opinion.

Please let me know what you think, your experience will be helpful as well
thanks fellow warriors....

I would say no. Even if they tried. Anyone that has a vested interest could not give an unbiased review. By the mere fact they are affiliated, they are already biased.

    Yes, of course it is.

Whether it's possible for it to be perceived by its readers as an unbiased review or not is, of course, a different matter.

I have a site on which I review 5 different, broadly comparable products. I'm an affiliate for 4 of them. All 5 reviews are entirely unbiased. I give two of the products very good reviews, one a mixed review, one I give a bad review and the last I openly ridicule and (in reviewing terms) tear to pieces. I explain clearly why I'm not an affiliate for that one.

It's definitely possible. Ask me how I know...

While it isn't foolproof by any means, a well-established product with an affiliate program and active advertising and zero affiliate reviews may speak louder than whatever might be posted.

While it is possible, it's not common. The vast majority of 'reviews' are just thin affiliate sites trying to make a sale from the review. It is frustrating when you are trying to research a product in the search engines - so I generally do my research on IM forums like Warrior where there's a good chance people have bought and used the product.

Yes. If you're always singing the praises of something it looks very unreal to people, throwing in a few good criticisms, in my opinion, makes it more likely that people will buy from you as an affiliate.

I don't really do much affiliate marketing for e-products but I am an affiliate of many physical products. My first year doing Amazon one of the products I chose to promote started getting a lot of negative reviews on Amazon. There was a defect in the product that was causing problems for some people. I thought for sure that site was toast, but instead of giving up on it I wrote a genuine review of the product, explaining the defect and then offering alternatives. A few people bought those alternatives but the vast majority of people still bought the original product. In fact, sales picked up significantly and it was the second best selling product for me that year. I'm convinced that my honest review of the product was the reason it got so many sales.

All that being said, most affiliates aren't as honest as they should be.

It's possible and some people do it very successfully and professionally.

I suspect that most product "reviews" of the kind you are talking about follow similar lines. Talk up the points of the service or product and then find one thing that you can say is not so good, but either is not a fatal flaw or the affiliate has something that will fix the problem and will give that to the buyer of the product as a bonus for buying through their link.

Thank you all for responding. There are a few great review sites out there but I do agree that most of the affiliates are biased. I personally don't endorse products I haven't tried and succeeded with. I think in the internet
arena this teaches us an important lesson, and that is that we should not
build review sites simply for the sake of selling affiliate products but we should try to stand out as a resource. The important part is to make sure the review is unbiased.

There is definitely a fine art to writing reviews while compelling others to buy from you. I'm not an affiliate marketer myself but the newest craze seems to be writing reviews for affiliate products the problem seems to be
that most of the reviews don't seem to be unbiased so when a person is looking for more info on a product or service many of the review sites I've seen leave much to be desired.

i think it is absolutely possible... most of the affiliates out there set up private sites promoting a product and thus they want to make profit by pre selling so they give a favored review.. try digging in a bit more and you might find real good reviews..which also contain affiliate reviews.

    best of luck

Yes, it is possible to give an unbiased review. However, the best reviews are from those that have inside knowledge about the product and it's pros and cons. Look for reviews that offer more in-depth analysis of what the product does for the buyer.

I remember that I reviewed a weight loss program that I thought was okay, but there were better ones out there. I stated my honest opinion and still ended up making commission on that particular product.

Of course it's possible, but I imagine it's rare. If there's a financial incentive for the review, I disregard it. Of course, I don't really look for reviews from affiliate review sites. I read the large publications online like PCWorld, PC Magazine, etc. and rarely ever buy an Internet Marketing product based on a review of it, unless it is from someone I respect and there is no affiliate link involved.

Normally no, because affiliates get paid when they successfully sell the product, so they have to make biased reviews to get sales. Unless of course if these affiliates bought the product themselves, tried it and found the product useful.

It's funny how some people seem to think a negative review has to be honest, while a positive review has to have an ulterior motive...

    It's called conflict of interest.

While 'possible', not likely at least by perception.
