Marketing Yourself Online!?

I haven't got personal experience but... from the people I know and people I follow on YouTube I think it helps to:

- Be controversial
- Be different
- Be entering
- Provide value

And above all get into a hot market or create something totally off the wall and wacky that it goes viral.

The people I follow are in martial arts and fitness niches. The martial arts dude is very good, controversial but educational. The fitness one... well just go and check out bodyrock TV and you'll see why there are something like 14 million views.

I forgot to mention - become an expert, be an authority and work on that.

The people with lots of likes o followers has provided value... or just have a great body So yes, it can be replicated if you for example have a blog where you give great value....

I built up a lot of followers on twitter and friends on facebook just by providing information (plus I belong to some large offline networks) and have been in business a number of years so know lots of business people.

But as for the people who asked to friend me or followed me on twitter, it was just because of what I posted that they read.

So post quality stuff and help people and do it personally and often and you should be able to replicate it.

Become influential by obsessing over helping people, one at a time. Think of it this way: do big things with a few key people, rather than small things with a lot of people.

Think of everything some celebrity or important person could do for you. Make it an exercise in fantasy. Then try to become that person yourself, and you will build a reputation that can bring that fantasy to life. Amazing influencers love being super advocates (promoters) for other super advocates. So start finding people to help, and help them!

Social media sites are useful to help you to amplify your presence, rather than to create a presence.

People need to know who you are FIRST, then you can socialize with them on Twitter etc to help you to promote whatever it is you're promoting. Subtly, not overtly.

Consider celebrities who use Twitter. They have enormous followings because they're already doing something in which people are interested.

So, you need to be doing something in which people are interested, then they may be interested in following you on the social media sites.

Think about what you can do to arouse interest so that people care about you.

Remember these sites are SOCIAL. This is their major strength, and their weakness too. You can certainly amplify what you're doing on the social media sites, but you can't blatantly sell on these sites.

I use social media and have a very large network. It works really well for me. BUT it's taken a long time to get my user base (Twitter, 52,000+) and building relationships is time sensitive. The results are fantastic though and I'm now doing a lot of speaking on the back of it all.

The key is providing really great content and really knowing your subject.

To achieve this, you will need to brand yourself as well as your business using the forums, blogging and other methods. You will also need to have to input the codes to your social networking account on your blog. Naturally, if people visit your site directly from the search engines and have never heard of your before, they can still love you if you give to them exactly what they want. You wouldn't even have to ask them to show your some love.

Being good in your field certainly brings out trust on the forums/blogging.

Get lots of traffic

Write quality content and you are on you way to be loved.
