What are some good books I should be reading? Recommendations?

Hey Warriors,

I want to start reading some books on the side when I
have time or just want to take a load off.

I have not read many of the books out there so pretty
much anything goes.

I know there is a ton of good oldies I should read, but I
am also interested in seeing if there are some really powerful
newer books.

These can be self help/success books or marketing books.
Basically any book that has helped you and you think I
should read as well.

Point me towards some books I simply cannot live without

  • I recently finished "The Power of Persuasion" by Robert Levine. It is an AWESOME book that will amaze you if you are into any type of marketing.

Also, the classic, "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.

I have been looking for some new books to read as well.

  • Well, some absolutely great ones (which do happen to be "oldies") are:
How to Write a Good Advertisement by Victor Schwab
Tested Advertising Methods by John Caples

This one is a bit newer (but still very good):
Web Copy that Sells by Maria Veloso

And I plan on reading The Copywriter's Handbook by Robert Bly next. I have really good things about it too.

      then move to the contemporaries.
      all books by Robert Kiyosaki

    • The Fountainhead by Aye Rand

I learned a lot from Howard Roark(the main character)

It's not a marketing or self help book but, there are many subtle lessons to be learned that can be translated and used to help you in business.

  • The books that have made the biggest difference to my life are:

The Success Principles - Jack Canfield
The Game of Life - Florence Scovel Schinn

They don't get mentioned in these lists very often, but I've read a lot of the other books already mentioned and these two made a bigger impact on my mindset than any of the others.

I think with any books it depends when you read them, if you're ready to really see the golden nuggets in them, and if you're then ready to act on what you read. Just reading alone doesn't do anyone much good.

  • Persuasion is one of the areas that can reallyu put
monmey in your pocket - how to get people to do
what you want while thinking it was their idea,
    basically.

I'm a fan of Kevin Hogan's stuff. You can get some
really amazing information on his website. The
    guy really delivers.

Also Roger Dawson's book "Secrets of Power Persuasion"
is much under-appreciated. It's first rate.

  • I second Jim Rohn, Ayn Rand, Dan Kennedy, Dr. Maxwell Maltz, and Napolean Hill. These guys are all great.

As for if books benefit you and how much impact they really have just look back through history and take a look at every great man, almost all of them were extensive readers at a time when information was very costly.

To me a good book signifies a way to connect with a person's cumulative life experience. It allows you to counterbalance much of the negativity the world offers by filling your head with positive messages.

  • Here's my list in no particular order.

The One-Minute Millionaire - Hansen & Allen (I take it out for a re-read every couple of months it's so good)
Over the Top - Zig Ziglar (in fact any of Zig's books)
    The E-Myth Revisited - Gerber
If You Want to be Rich & Happy Don't Go to School - Kiyosaki (all his books are really good, but after you've read a couple, many of them tend to be pretty much the same thing, just re-written).
You Call the Shots - Cameron Johnson

    Cheers

  • MindOS by Dr. Paul (Google it).

If you can't manage yourself and run a business with that info, or turn yourself around, you need to pack up and get a construction job.

    It's top notch.
