This was the comment that someone wanted me to approve on my blog

"I don't even know how I finished up here, but I assumed this publish was good. I don't recognise who you might be but certainly you're going to a well-known blogger if you aren't already. Cheers!"

ok --- SERIOUSLY?????????????

If I were paying a company to put backlinks on blogs and this was the type of crap that I was paying for, I would be sooooo pissed

I can only hope that this is something that someone paid for, because if this is someone doing it on their own, god bless them. they need a ton of help

WTF does that even mean? I see a pipe so it appears that this "user" was trying to use a program that "spins" the potential comment. Obviously it failed miserably here.

Funny, I don't know what some people are thinking. Especially when some try to be clever.

Pretty funny. For a real laugh, you should see some of the emails I get through the support forms on my websites. Sometimes, it seems like these clowns are trying to produce gibberish.

    Too funny!

I got one earlier today from some porn enthusiast who literally "attempted" to discharge his 1200+ words of sh!t on my latest WP blog!

I didn't know whether to laugh or feel bad for him?

    Thank-God for Askimet!

Hysterical. I don't know if the random jibberish is worse, or the typical blah ones that are so obvious, "this is the best post, I will surely check back to your blog"... vague, generic, no value, SPAM.

I think I would prefer the jibberish - at least I might get a good laugh.

haha, I constantly get those at my blog too. Other than real ones from my real followers, I've never seen a believable comment. I used to get a lot more but I installed a plugin that seems to have helped weed them out. I also started blocking IP addresses as they came in, but haven't done that in months.

I simply edit them to nice comments with no links and my keyword placed nicely!

      I get loads like that- I think that the comment bots are trying to get more creative! I have just gone through the spam folder on one of my blogs and here are some great ones;

"What makes someone an art “expert” to determine the quality and meaningfulness of a work of art?"

"you have to check their website, also what program are you applying for, fine art, interior design, architecture etc?. If you can’t find the info on their website phone them. . They do offer portfolio review days if you live close enough sign up for one. . . Rest assured, the majority of people applying will come straight from highschool so you all have a level playing field. Commonly they look for a variety of techniques and subjects, usually a self portrait should be included."

"This internet site leaves a good product that might ‘t be disregarded in particular it has and exhibits us a different degree of very amazing impression."

This is a blog on arthritis by the way!!

Generally if someone has obviously taken the trouble to find my site manually and leave a relevent, quality comment relating to the post with a link back to a related site, I will approve their comment. I am getting more and more spam though, Askimet catches it but it's a pain having to delete them all!

Haha. Blog comments should be made because you have something witty or sensible to say. I even got comments that are trying to sell this and that. And it has nothing to do with my post.

I've been getting some that have really surprised me. I'm used to the "nice blog, i don't see webs with this good reading on it."

Lately I've been getting different versions of this basic comment:

"I came expecting great information but all I read is WHINING! Stop complaining and maybe you will learn something and people will like reading your blog."

Now, grammar is usually not nearly that nice, but that is the general point the comment tries to get across. The best part... the comments are on an overview of what the features of a Wordpress Theme are.

Someone out there must be pushing the angry/ mildly insulting comment angle because I've seen a definite uptick in there types of comments and they're all spam.

Nobody is manually writing those comments on your blog.

They probably just used scrapebox or xrumer.

I see tons of these trash comments, they put effort on commenting why didn't do their best. I see same comments coming from different URLs and it irritates me really so spammy.

You know, if a comment at least mentioned something about the NICHE I would probably approve it. I like having comments on my posts, as long as they have at least a grain of relevancy.

what's even funnier, kind of sad really, is when i go to a blog and i see the blog owner actually respond to the spam comments

LOL. Yes, I agree. I saw a blog with a comment about having a question on something in the post (no real relevancy to the topic at all, and you could completely tell that the comment was spam).

The blog owner actually responded offering help to further clarify any portion of the post. But, when you're new it's not uncommon to start out with that whole 'faith' in humanity and excitement about someone actually having (supposedly) read your post. Spammers unfortunately kill that pretty quick.

these other comments have really made me laugh

Amity - I truly hope you are right. I wishe I understood how the bots "work" - not the tech exactly but the "instructions" that the creator gave the program. I am curious if they really understood that these would be the results --

for them I guess it is a numbers game. If they can get 1 in 1000 to get through then it was worth the effort

plus - with nofollows and people like me who won't approve, I am still not quite sure if this effort makes any sense at all -- but what do I know

I get a lot of these too. I have a question. if they sit in your spam box are their links still getting seen by google as a back link?

By the way great idea whoever said just edit them take out the links and add your key words.

I am getting tired of deleting them is there any ways to prevent them in the first place?

On a side note I had to disable registration on my forum as the captcha does not seem to prevent the bots from trying to register. I have to approve them but when you get 50 a day it gets to be a pain. I have tried tweaking captcha several times but nothing seems to help. I don't seem to have the option for them to have to answer a question instead. It's a phpbb forum so I am wondering if there are better forum apps.

Unfortunately ditto : However forum still gets +/- 5000 page views/month, after deleting bot visits so I suppose it's still worth something.

I still need better method because now I'm back at full strength I intend to resurrect it
