Making money with Fiverr doesn't have to be a secret

I've been a web developer for nearly a decade. I've made many clients lots of money but when trying to build my own online empire I always seem to fall short... They say to really like or enjoy websites you are going to create, your money making sites I mean, and unfortunately my likes and joys aren't very popular. They aren't weight loss, fitness, or any of the other big money making sites.

I've always had luck making websites and selling them. Didn't make a lot of money but enough for me to enjoy a few of the little things in my life.

Around June I heard about a website called Fiverr and decided to check it out. I was pretty amazed. There were some really cool things on there. Lots of odd, bizarre things, SEO/web related things, videos, and so on.

When I first joined Fiverr the SEO market there was nearly non-existence or at least I would consider it so. But I'm use to going to websites like WarriorForum and seeing it all over the place.

I had purchased some software and though I never had much luck on it on the webmaster forums I visited I decided to give it a shot there... and I lucked out.

I decided to make it this large so you could see my Bookmark of "Backup Creator". If you search my posts you'll see that earlier yesterday I posted a question about it.

I've made over $4,000 since June, 2011 and I have orders still pending.

I post this to show people I'm being legitimate and sincere.

The best advice I can give, no matter your online venue... I've found to make money online, you need to offer services that others can use to make money.

I offer various services such as SEO, small designs, script installations, and even consultation. I will admit that my feedback score is 98% but this is due to a few of my customers not understanding how SEO works. They are expecting instant results and I try to explain to them that SEO can take weeks and usually months to see results.

This post is really for people who are struggling to earn online revenue. Or even raise extra income to buy "that sweet new theme you want" or "plugin" or whatever you want. I hope you guys see what I mean. If you are having trouble making money... think of something you could do to earn some. Think of something you could do for others. Build backlinks, create content, and so forth.

Anyway, just my two cents.

Throw in yours, if you want.

There are some people say "fiverr sucks and doesn't worth the effort". But the other say "Don't underestimate the power of fiverr!"

Well, I still haven't any service to offer as gigs on fiverr, but I think fiverr is cool and worth to try

It is. I obviously haven't made enough to make a living on it but it has potential to earn you a good bit of extra income. I made over 1000 sales on it (Fiverr keeps $1) since June. Since we are just starting the month of November it has averaged $1000/month for me...

I have not tapped what fiverr has to offer doers of gigs, but I know one college girl on there who has made enough sales to be comparable to the figures mentioned above. She undoubtedly completes gigs for the commercial intent of people who buy her gigs (I should know), but she also does the non commercial stuff too.

    Hi!

how about we all make a large list of efficient fiverr offers? I've wasted a lot of money before I found a content writer that really suited me.

They have something like that called Fiverr Allstars. They're supposed to be rated. I've made some good money on Fiverr as well. It can be an awesome option if you have the resources to provide quick gigs.

That's something I should have mentioned. Do something that is worth $5 lol do not overwork yourself.

My shortest gig takes me 2 minutes.
My longest gig takes me 15 minutes.

All well worth my time for $5.

I should also mention that my 2 minute gig is my biggest money maker.

I offer backlinks on Fiverr and I use a software program that takes me less than 5 min to created the backlinks and send a report to the buyer.

I'm not making a fortune on Fiverr, but the extra few hundred I do make each month makes it worth my time.

        All the best,

Ok.. the general idea of my gigs.

SERP Ranking, I offer 3 kinds on 3 different gigs.
          Wordpress Stuff
          SEO Report
          SEO eBook I wrote

They are listed in order of most to least profitable based on my sales.

I have made well over 1000 sales total but combined my feedback is only about 300. Not everyone leaves feedback.

This is a good discussion. I offered writing services on fiverr and got completely swamped. Great reviews, but not a good use of my time.

A gig that takes two minutes and gets me ($3.90 - let's be real here) might work for me. But a gig that gets me that amount for 15-30 minutes? I don't think so. Sorry. Thinking from just a writer's perspective. Maybe your gigs are something else that don't involve as much brainpower. (Please, no offense intended. If i could find something automatic that I could offer on fiverr I would do it.)

I can see your point and I thought a lot about that too before launching a couple of my gigs.

But I'm thinking of my ppt/video gigs in particular as getting paid to learn, while my transcription gigs actually are worth the effort, as are my PLR articles and my custom bookmarks designs.

I'm not getting rich, and certainly haven't reached the 4-digit earnings point but I'm really liking the few bucks I'm getting here and there.

Plus, I've had a couple of video transcription and ppt/video clients ask for my website so they can contact me for services that go beyond the scope of my fiverr gigs. They're not really into having to buy a gig multiple times to get one job done.

        Raimundas - awesome tips!

Most of my gigs have videos, especially the gigs where I'm creating videos!

I need to work on a portfolio page though, which means I need to get permission from my video clients to embed their videos on my site.

I recently created PowerPoint slides and animation for a dentist to use in their new video and they were so happy with it, she shared the YouTube link with me so I could see my work in its final state! That really made me feel great!

And here it is! Lincoln Dentist Nolan Dental - Tips on Cleaning Baby Teeth - YouTube

I had a blast creating that!

The bulk of my sales have come from my two minute gigs and yes it is automated. I plugin what they want, and send them a report.

No offense taken! None of my gigs require brainpower... sad huh?

For instance, one of my other popular gigs is setting up Wordpress and installing a theme that matches their niche. Most everyone has cPanel and most every host now uses Fantastico or some other similar script.

I autoinstall WP and find a theme from the same website that has beautiful layouts that are 100% free. Badabing badaboom.

Here's what I go through when planning gigs:
    1. I think about how much money I want to make per hour (minimum). (Not that I plan to do gigs for hours on end, but it helps me get a grip on how much time I'm willing to spend per gig)
    2. I count each gig as worth $2.50 when estimating profit.
    3. I research the popular gigs and create lists that include the best keywords and such for them.
    4. I match what software and skills I have to the gigs.
    5. I think about how much Q&A time will be spent with gigs. This can be cut down with the presence of a Q&A website page or something like that....but there are still those gigs where you'll deal with a decent chance of spending a lot of time explaining things and/or getting negative reviews because of issues with customer expectations (no matter how hard you try to explain things).

I've also taken advantage of time. Whereas some people might offer more of something than you...you can offer less and just spread it over time (backlinks, content, fans, diggs, tweets, and so on). That one strategy has helped me gain the most money on Fiverr.

This is a good discussion. I offered writing services on fiverr and got completely swamped. Great reviews, but not a good use of my time.

I would point to the great reviews and state that it would be 2 gigs for the amount of content that you're producing now, but that they would also get some sort of (easy) bonus. So maybe offer a shorter amount of content and backlinks (several people use valuation links) as your main gig. Then, upsell to more content. You could also use templates and offer press releases as a gig. Since you have social proof, people will be more likely to pay a bit more knowing that they'll get awesome content. That said, how much do you charge for optimized articles?

    Wow,

Great job. Do not down play this, there is more profits to be made from this.

But this is proof that FIVERR is not a waist of time if you know what you are doing.

We make about $100+ a day on fiverr. (but only 2% of our earnings) And yes, there really is no secret, we just reverse engineered the top earners in there, and creating some nice profits after a bit of time.

If you see a popular gig, chances are it is popular for a reason. Don't mimic it, just see if you can add to it, or make the most popular gigs even better. Then make it your own.

Well done, and keep up the good work underthegun!

That is a pretty good idea, reverse engineering popular gigs. I didn't do that. I just posted it on there, posted what I thought was fair, and I really didn't expect much.

I will admit business has died down A LOT but I guess after a while with so many other people offer the same service I am or more customers are going to go elsewhere.

I'm actually planning a new gig combining several different services.

Personally, I've never driven any traffic to my gigs. I always try to list things I'll do at places where people are already looking (IE webmaster forums). Fiverr is enough to already drive traffic to me.

When I started offering my gigs there weren't very many like what I posted to choose from. This made me stand out quite a bit. That and a few good reviews launched me. I do about $15 to $30 per day now. But for the first two months I was bringing in much more.

But don't misread my post. Somedays I don't see any work. This is uncommon (not rare) but there are days where I don't.

Are you offering something different? a slightly different take on what everyone else is offering?

I think the reason I STILL get work is because I do have hundreds of positive reviews.

You def. don't want to overwork yourself. There's no point in overworking for $5. It needs to be a wam-bam-thank you ma'am situation. Get in, get out.

I wouldn't worry about a WSO though I'm sure you could find some good ones. There is no trick. Get your resources and tools together and see what you can do. Think how you could do it where $5 (and really, as mentioned $3.90) and post it.

I've read of some people doing SEO work on their gigs to help get hits to their gigs.

It isn't really fast money. You have to wait 2 weeks for funds to clear. So if you have $400 waiting to clear that was made in 5 days, you have to wait a while to get all $400 at once.

Fiverr will eventually become so saturated with "the norm" that it'll become nearly pointless to use it for the types of services I offer. Hell, it's already going that way. I was seeing tons of work daily to still a lot of not as much as I was seeing.

I've even considered making another account through a proxy so I can't be traced and doing similar but slightly different gigs.. just to test the waters.

Fiverr is a brilliant place to start out in internet marketing. There's no way you can't make money there. You just need to take action and fiverr can become a true gold mine.

For those who do design on fiverr, or at least starting to offer services related to graphic design, here are few great tips:

      1. Have a portfolio page. Buy a domain name and add all your finished projects there. Add your website link in your gig description. The beauty of this is that if you are just starting out, you can add "fake" portfolio at first, and when you actually finish something, just replace with your own projects.

When I was on fiverr, I have noticed this highly improves your order rates, and there is no need to wait for positive comments to prove you are good at what you do. Of course you have to be good

      2. Have a video on your gig page. This is extremely powerful. Having a video of your self and simply describing what the gig is about is the way to go. This will create more trust in eyes of your potential customers and your orders will go through the roof!

Congratulations on your winnings with fiverr! I think it's a great way to make money, but offering more than the rest of the users there for 5$ it's not worth it. Maybe if I can find a niche that is not clogged with offers and the effort is worth the 5$ then I'll use it.

The thing is, it doesnt have to be IM related stuff to sell on Fiverr. I have more of a Make Money from Home blog (rather them MMO) and a lot of my readers get frustrated because they dont know anything about IM or SEO but want to setup a gig there. I always tell them, find something you are good at, say quilting for example. Do a quick report on how to make a baby blanket or even plans (if thats what they call them in the quilting world) and post them on Fiverr. All it will take is literally 2 minutes to upload the ebook to the winner.

The options over there really limitless. Just use your imagination, be orginal and you will make some money.

It's always good to see someone actually putting fiverr to good use as it really has an expanse of opportunity.

I'd summarise in saying that the best money is made by offering something that's obviously in demand, but also what can be executed by the seller and completed within 5 minutes. If not, arbitrage is where it's at. That little more time and effort to buy and sell for more.

Keep it going. Wishing you further success!

Oh exactly! I can spend hours on fiverr just looking at all the stuff that people will do. When you get out of the IM frame of mind and look at the weird and off-the-wall stuff that people are doing, as well as the legitimate, it can give you some great ideas!

Example - and this is about as far from IM as you can get ...

If you're a woman (or a cross-dresser ) there's a fiverr designer who will ship you 20 custom pre-designed fake nails for $5! That's an awesome profit margin considering you can buy the blank nails 500 for $2.50! And they're gorgeous!

Hypothetically, if I wanted to buy some water slide decal paper and make and sell some custom decals, I could hook up w/the nail lady and each of us can add the other to our favorites and drive buyers back & forth.

The possibilities really are endless. You're only stopped by your imagination.

I make money with Fiverr through some unique twists. The reason I haven't flooded Fiverr with gigs that I can do is because it seems like there are way too many established people on there. In other words, the people who got in early and achieved top seller status are going to show up at the top of the Fiverr SERPs, so how exactly can we drive traffic to the Fiverr gig to get it highly ranked and make a decent ROI?
