How to you estimate your domain name value?

Hi warriors,

just curious how you estimate your domain name value? Through browsing through domain auction sites? Or you just sell at the price that you want?

For me I will do some research on finding similar domain name on domain auction sites.

Thanks for sharing

There are lots of sites that give estimates but I think they are much to low.

I decide by how much money it makes me.

if you're looking to sell your website, a good place to start is by taking the monthly revenue and multiplying it by 12 (months)

First of all, there is no such thing as an accurate domain value. A domain name may be worth thousands to one person, while being valueless to another. Ask 10 'experts' to appraise your domain name and you'll get 10 different answers.

The value of a domain name is mostly determined by your ability to locate potential buyers who NEED it or WANT it badly enough.

That being said, you can do a 'comp', much like real estate people do when pricing a property. Go to DN Sale Price- Domain Name Sales Price and History and enter a few details. You'll get a list of similar domain names along with the price they actually sold for. Use that as a guide to help you figure out a fair market value.

If there is already revenue from your website what Dimian says is what other sellers' do. That's reasonable enough to price your site.

For me i think a domain name is worth, the amount that the buyer is willing to pay for it. I often try to check sites for valuations but none seems to be accurate for the stats are always wrong.

Put it up for an auction on flipper and see what it will go far.

It's simply a matter of two major factors:

-What kind of history, traffic, and revenue has the domain generated?

    and

-What is someone willing to pay for it?

I have tried all the FREE valuation tools, and find it almost humoring that one claims the value of your domain is $15, and the other spits outs $86,000. There too, I acquired (5) FREE paid "domain appraisals" from GoDaddy and explored their 'valuation' only to find that an 'unused' new domain is general worth about what you pay for it, unless it's brandable, short and concise, and is a top level tld, and then you may make some money on it 'if' you find the right buyer.

Many of the domains in GoDaddy's auctions are almost laughable, when I see people putting a $50K price tag on a never registered .org domain.

But, if that domains happens to fetch those numbers, the seller looks genius, and there's really no telling what a good developer can do with the right domain name.

For me, I just look for 'keyword rich' relevant domains, and generally won't spend more than $7 -$10 for it. I do however have some for sale that are WAY overpriced... cause you just never know what someone's willing to pay for the right one?

    All the Best,
