A JV giveaway is an event where several people get together to combine their traffic/list-building efforts. Recipients of the gifts are added to the givers' lists.

When you choose to participate in a JV giveaway event, you're asked to 1) donate some sort of product to give away AND 2) help generate traffic to the giveaway event page. (So there's more to it than just donating a product and sitting back to await a tidal wave of traffic.)

Trouble is, too many people do just that: they donate a product and hope for that tidal wave of traffic. They don't promote it.

The success of any JV giveaway event is rooted in EVERYONE'S participation in traffic generation. Often, the hosts of the event know that a lot of people are joining who either 1) have no list at all to leverage or 2) won't help promote the event. In an effort to keep the quality of the event high, if they see you're not promoting it, they'll remove your gift (and you) from the event.

It's best if you at least have a seed list to help leverage your other efforts. But you have Twitter followers and Facebook friends, you can leverage your social networks to help drive traffic to the event. Of course, your results will be dependent on your efforts and the quality of your relationship with your followers and friends.

Best advice: if you have no list, focus on at least building a seed list before jumping into a JV giveaway event.

(The same advice goes for list-building telesummits.)

    Hope that helps!
