I've Got A WordPress Upgrade Question

OK, I'm lost. I just made 3 WordPress Sites, using Fantastico Deluxe.

I need to upgrade to WP 2.7 . I've saved the WP2.7 file to my hard drive. But I don't know what to do to upgrade. Can I get Fantastico to recognize the new upgrade and set it up for me (I'm guessing not).

I uploaded the Flexibility2 Theme to the sites. Will I lose that when upgrading? Fortunately, I haven't customized the sites, yet. So, I won't be losing much.

When answering my question, please talk to me like you would a child. I am a total tech-dummy. So use small syllable words.

Is this something I can do easily or am I going to snatch myself bald-headed with frustration?

Any help would be deeply appriciated.

    Adam,

    Go to your Fantastico Deluxe page. If you click WordPress on the left hand side, you will see a list of all WordPress installations you've done. If it's not already at version 2.7, there should be an "Upgrade" link to bring up to the latest version. Fantastico does that automatically.

    Your themes and plugins won't be affected no matter how you do the upgrade (unless you totally mess something up )

      Download this plugin The Instant Upgrade plugin for WordPress Zirona

      This will do the trick.

      There is another plugin out there but, this one is better

      Hey Sagar,

      I just created them with Fantastico Deluxe, today. This is the latest version that my Fantastico has. I just did as you said and it doesn't offer an upgrade link :confused:.

      But thanks for replying...maybe I'll contact my webserver company and ask them to get the upgrade.

    This plugin is THE best automatic upgrade plugin I've seen. Offers backing up everything etc. etc. Takes all of 10 minutes to install and execute and works a charm:

    It's pretty easy to install too. Just follow the instructions on the 'Installation' tab on that page. If you have any problems, just let me know. Would be happy to help out

      I'm using WP 2.6.2 and am wanting to upgrade to 2.7.

      I'll take care of this tomorrow, when I am more awake/alert.

        Sometimes it takes Fantastico a while to show the upgrade option - I was told once that it was to make sure all bugs were out of it first, but not sure how true that is.

        I also get emails from my host when the link is there to upgrade.

        For me, that's definitely the easiest way to upgrade but of course you can do what suits you!
