Just go to Google and type in "niche + forums" and hit search.

The top forums appear on the first page of Google most of the time. But make sure to check the number of members they have and how many posts they have to find out if they really are top forums.

Yes, and also check the frequency of said posts (if you are implying that in your post, I apologise). I had gotten really excited about signing up for a CS forum for work, only to realise a few days later that the most recent posts were 2-3 months old...

That is correct. Only checking the number of posts a forum has doesn't always tell you if the forum if really active or not. You should also check the recentness of the posts at the top.

Use google to your advantage. Sign in google alert as well. It will show you the forums for your niche.

A simple search on Google should do the trick. If a forum is ranked high on Google, it is likely to be active with a lot of traffic depending on the keyword, but of course this is not always the case.

I have recently been doing some searches for forums related to my niche and I typed in the niche keyword (in many variations) and forum. I also looked on The largest Message Boards and Forums on the web! and did searches in the forums I had found to see if any other forums were mentioned.

I made a note of how many members and when the forum was last active as sometimes it appears to be active but it is from people just logging in to advertise.

There are people on Fiverr who will find you "x" number of forums relevant to your niche for $5. Just search "forums" on Fiverr and then check out the reviews/feedback.

In addition to what's been mentioned above, here's another tactic.....

Do a Google search for your niche/keyword. When the results come back look down the options in the left column (Everything, Images, Maps, etc) and click on More. Then click on Discussions.

      Voila!

      Peace
