I need help getting rid of really annoying, spamming comment! Have no idea where is coming from?

Hi guys!!

I have a quick question!

I've been receiving this type of comments on my blog;

Comment:

Z0VaN2 , /qefeqhibzkcb/]qefeqhibzkcb[/url], [link=/uirtejncasbi/]uirtejncasbi[/link], wobmswwgtqhy/

It's clearly a spam! lol

The problem here is that I receive hundreds of comments like this on my blog every single day and it has become a bit annoying. I expect around 50 - 100 like this EVERYDAY

The funny thing is that my site is new and barely getting 10-20 visit daily!

I have tried everything I could and it's still happening

I tried several anti-spamming methods and apps.

Do you have any idea where this type of comments could be coming from?

Please share your experience with spamming comments on your site

Thanks in advance!!

Best regards!

Assuming you are using WordPress, have you tried Akismet? It is a plugin that comes pre-installed with WordPress. You have to get an API key for it, but you can do that for free by signing up at WordPress.com. That tends to lessen the spam that I get, and it puts all of those type of comments in the spam section so I can easily delete them each day.

I have also closed comments on past blog posts (older than 90 days). That also lessens the spam you receive, since none can be left on older posts. You can set comments to close within your WP dashboard.

Odd indeed. As I get my blog up and running, I'm dreading the thought of spam comments and having to deal with them.

A possible solution maybe... I remembered seeing this WSO last month and it looked to be a solution for spam comments on Wordpress blogs... (and I'm NOT promoting it since I don't know the guy running the WSO, plus we can't promote here without risking a smackdown from the moderator, so I won't even link out to it, you'll have to look it up from the info below).

The WSO was for WP Comment Ninja posted by DerekPierce on 19 Oct.

    Best of luck...

Add a captcha plug-in. That stops most spam. Then an anti-spam plug-in usually stops the rest. The captcha alone reduced spam on one of my sites from around 500 a day to less than 10

When one of my blogs begins receiving a lot of spam (in spite of other common efforts to prevent it), I use the free WP-Ban plugin.

It allows you to ban users by IP, IP Range, host name, user agent and referer url from visiting your WordPress's blog.

It will display a custom ban message when the banned IP, IP range, host name or referer url tries to visit you blog. You can also exclude certain IPs from being banned. There will be statistics recorded on how many times they attempt to visit your blog. It allows wildcard matching too.

        This sounds good!

I went on a tangent once and spent weeks manually blocking referrer spam and IP addresses from a new site and this plug-in would have made things much easier.

The time I spent doing this manually (and worrying about it and over-analyzing it and wishing it would just stop) was mostly a waste of time. Using tools like Annie and the others suggest to automate the bulk of the work is the best way to go. Make sure your site is safe and then just dump your spam and don't look at it. It'll distract you far longer than necessary and you have more important things to do like put up more content.

Just a little note as I too suggest using the Askimet plugin. If you choose the "personal" option, then adjust the payment slider to "$0" ...the plugin is FREE. I avoided using it for awhile thinking it was a paid plugin.

Also, be sure you manually approve comments. If you allow all comments to show without moderation, the bots and spammers will have a field day slamming your sites with their gibberish!

    All the Best,

Sadly, there are some black hat software programs out there specifically designed to place spam comments with links on wordpress blogs.

You could try setting your blog up so you have to approve any comments before they appear on the site, and/or only allowing comments from people you have previously approved.

There are also a few great free plugins that work well and sometimes even better than Akismet.

One I have on one of my Wordpress blogs right now, testing it out, is Spam Free Wordpress.

And it's working great as far as I can tell.

definitely use a spam blocker plug-in, akismet is one I use but there are numerous types if you just search Spam Block on plug-ins, and approving comments beforehand can help as well...

How can you tell the difference between spam, a pingback and a trackback.
And yes I read the info on wp, but I would like someone to explain it to me in plain english please, for blog newbies it can be both complicated and intimidating.

With all due respect, I strongly disagree with those who suggest using Akismet. Akismet will kill you legit comments by trapping them in spam folder.

I used it for more than a year, until I found GASP (GrowMap Anti Spam Plugin) from Gail over at GrowMap blog.

Like Akismet its free, but it does a far better job at actually catching spam and letting legit comment go through. I would suggest you install GASP to combat this issue.

Hi, it looks like a code injection, a hack attempt. I would contact my host and have them globally ban the ip(s) Or you can do it yourself in htaccess file
