Interesting Fiverr request: what can they do?

Hi Guys,

I am a pretty good online researcher and usually can find a concrete answer or at least a range of opinions regarding a topic. Yesterday I was approached by a person trying to fundraise for a movie production through Facebook. On a surface, sounds pretty easy. There are so many different ways to earn money through Facebook, no questions about it. However, I wonder if somebody actually tried to fundraise through this platform and could share their experience. Would you approach it slightly differently then when you are monetizing a niche. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have not done this myself, but several of my freinds have. However, I might note, my friends are a member of our international business network and we are all on facebook.

First of all, you must seek very specialized legal advice to be in compliance with all laws to make a public offering in most if not all countries and when you post it online, it is even more legally complex to comply because it is considered an international offering.

The legal ramifications of making a public offering in the US by any means, verbal, written, on the internet without having all of your SEC compliance done can mean being convicted of multiple counts of felonies and imprisonment.

It is most definitely not something to do without SEC specialized legal advice.

Interesting point. So you think they need a legal advise to place a "donate now" link?

They may also be interested in Kickstarter, which many have used to fund different types of projects. You can check it out here: Kickstarter

P.S. Raising funds is NOT the same as offering shares in a company.

Haven't considered this site. Thanks for the idea.

They may also want to try their linked in contacts...that group may be more responsive to giving.

Yes, great idea! LinkedIn might be a very untapped market for this.

The only way I am familiar with for using Facebook to raise money would be through sending an update over a fan page or write something on fan page.

People do pay for that specially for active pages (real fans not fake)
