BlogTalkRadio Widget Tricks

I put a blogtalkradio widget on a sales page of mine and it seemed to help conversion.

It was placed at the top below the headline and above the start of the sales copy.

I like the idea of my visitors getting some idea of me and the qualities I bring into a product so I am going to be doing BlogTalkRadio spots for all my products for my sales pages from now on.

What do you think?

Like the idea?

Hate it?

Why?

One of the reasons my Blog Radio Show continues to kick ass and takes names is because I choose to deliver content rather then an infomercial in the guise of "content."

There isn't a medium out there...that people arn't attempting to hook a link to....and it's becoming a pollution problem in my opinion.

Granted the name of the game is making money.

At the same time, however, my listeners like the fact they can enter my house without getting whacked with upsells, links, and every other friggin' pitch under the sun.

Sometimes the best "positioning" is to simply find out what the rest of you'se people do...and do the dead friggin' opposite.

Contrary to popular opinion.....sometimes just keeping it real....gets you'se a lot more business...the keeping it "promotional." But that's just my spin.

      A little confused.

Was that a rant or are you making the assumption my content is just crap promotional garbage?

Seems to me good content shows only reinforces product value and applied to a sales page would be of synergistic benefit...

I wasn't directing my rant at you, bro. Your OP just opened the door....lol.

I agree that a Blog Talk Radio link applied to a sales page is a good idea in terms of creating credibility and giving prospects a better feel for who "you" are.

My rant is directed at those who use Blog Talk Radio as an infomercial in the guise of content ....while claiming "to keep it real."

Obviously they aint. Aint much content.....and aint much "real."

    it seemed to help conversion.

There are two things to consider..

    1. Does it add credibility and support your sales
    message?

    2. Does it distract the reader from the sales copy
and result in clicking away from the page without
    taking the desired action?

To be sure of what's really happening (as opposed
to what "seems" to be happening) I'd suggest that
you set up a split test.

    John
P.S. Vinnie, I agree.. building long term relationships
by providing solid content will win over the "get a
    sale at any cost" approach.

No Contest on the bogus Blogtalkradio Content and I will readily admit I have tried it.

I would not be able to call myself a thourough marketer if I did not attempt it,.. I figured out however that it was not what others claimed it was and stopped forthwith.

Yes my whole premise from the beginning was that a Blogtalkradio widget correctly applied to a sales page is kind of like a testimonial and proof of value all wrapped up in one if you do it right.

and what about the unspoken benefit of great linkjuice

I think John hit it on the head...

So long as your radio show correlates with the
site that you are posting the widget on.

Dana and I have a great show and Have a widget
on the right tool bar of our Social Media Site. Both
directly support one another and provide good
cross selling opportunities. As we include content
on the Radio show that is not on the site and vice versa.

In my opinion if you have a Radio show and a site you
should most definitely embed the widget....as long
as it makes sense as defined above.

      Highest Regards,
      Sean

    Errrr...

    Did you say sales page?...

If your "widget" can leak traffic then it's a no-no imho...

Sure, have audio.. but if the widget leaks traffic (even if that traffic is to your BTR page), I would always avoid it.

Hi Baal,.. Sent you a return PM

Also Jay, man but it goes so well together,.. the widget is really small and hard to navigate so you really only see where to play/pause

there is nothing obvious at all about it directing someone to follow a path

Chris... I'm not just bustin your chops man.. It doesn't go so well together, you may want it to..

        But it doesn't.

The blog talk radio widget is SUCH a traffic bleed for a sales page...

People in that niche are tech savvy and they will show interest in the widget, and what's even worse is when someone clicks the blog talk radio logo, they get taken directly to blog talk's root URL, not even to your own personal channel..

Of course, I could sit here and tell you what you want to hear and you would be happy, but then I'd feel bad. Instead I will tell you what I really think.

That widget is a traffic bleeding hole in your sales funnel and you should record the show as mp3 in a stand alone player on your site, unless you are happy with that kind of leak.

        Just sayin'

        Peace

          You can't know that Jay.

That's why I suggest that he set up a split
run test to see what happens in reality.

Yup... I wouldn't question that, sir. Ever. Hence the reason I said to Chris "tell you what I really think" - jus' my thoughts
